Area got through Dorian quite well. We stayed gone an extra day just to be sure the power held. They were still getting strong winds about 25 miles north of us. We found a super buffet where we were. It was so good, we went back twice. LOL! All kinds of good home cooking made with fresh ingredients. I almost OD'd on all the fresh veggies. LOL!Take nothing for granted. Life can change irrevocably in a heartbeat.

There is a commercial optical design software I sometimes use to do my job. It runs on Windows only. We run this design software on a Win 10 virtual machine under Parallels.
This morning I start up the virtual machine. The laptop fan kicks into high gear after about 2 mins of use, a sure sign it is off calling home for updates. Sure enough as I get to part way into my work, the machine asks me to schedule a restart. I schedule the restart for lunchtime tomorrow and click OK. The machine then promptly restarts, without letting me save my work. It has been working on updates and restarting for 40+ mins. The fan is running full speed and you could fry an egg on the housing. We're 22% of the way through the process. At this rate, I'll be getting back to work around 2pm. Grrr.Comment

Visitation at church went well. 70 year old deacon on motorcycle in country. SUV pulled out in front of him. He hit the driver side door. Did not make it to hospital. I will miss him saying, “You ain’t right, Doc”. At least I still have War Dancer to tell me I ain’t rite. That is a compliment in Kentucky.Comment
