Subs, I've used Walmart delivery on occasion. Down here their drivers are independent contractors. At least here, that seems to be a problem. Both of my orders were delayed because the store called drivers that never showed. On my last order, they called 5 drivers before one showed.
I wonder if there has been some issue with the payment system. Unlikely any other delivery service I've used down here, you don't determine the tip amount before the service is rendered. You aren't even given the option of tipping until after your order is delivered. I wonder how many people never respond to the email asking that they log in and tip.
It's a shame because Walmart, unlike the other stores' services used store employees to shop. They did much much better on filling the order and substitutions. The bags weren't so over packed that they broke before the groceries got to my front step. They had mild Bueno frozen flame roasted green chiles, which can excuse a multitude of sins. Unlike a certain online retailer, the canned goods haven't been -- near as I can figure -- thrown across the warehouse at the bags or used to chock the wheels of the fork lift.
On my last order from said online retailer, one can was nearly folded in half and was leaking! They also have an incomprehensible system for determining what items will be packed with ice. I got an order where cheese, ground beef, sour cream, hot dogs, and frozen veggies were thrown all in one thin paper bag and given to a driver, who then tossed them in his trunk and drove around in the August Texas heat for 2 hrs. The hamburgers were cooked enroute, LOL. But, a block of Velveeta and a bag of chocolate chips, in the same order, were each carefully wrapped in insulation with a frozen bottle of water and packed their own large paper bags.
