Thanks to the blooming catawaba tree, the air around our house smells vanilla-ish.
The flowers remind me of mini orchids.
Since the drought was so bad for so long a few years ago we no longer have catawaba worms. The first time I ever saw them, I was scooping them up and feeding them to the chickens who thought they were in heaven. Hubby came home from work and about had a cow when he asked me what I was doing and I told him. Turns out, the worms make great fish bait.
I think the long drought killed off the worms.
We've been dealing with everything from a couple of days with near record highs, and a couple of mornings of near record lows. It was 90 one day, rain and storms came through, and it hit 50 the next morning.
