                so lucky

you are so lucky to know where you came from. There is alot of american indians that don't know where they came from.In my case,in the late 1800s my antcestors were made to go to Sherman indian school. The records burned in a fire so i can't prove who i am.The whites took my family and tribe away. All my life i wanted to know what tribes my antcestors were from.So i will keep on trying to find my people.Yes,after the white man came,it was neaver the same again. So you are very lucky .PROUD TO BE INDIAN

grew up in middle class mid west, summers and occasional holidays back on the rez, half tuscarora half white, do'nt speak my language but know quite a bit of it now, but then there are only like 11 fluent speakers of it left. If my skin were brown no one would question me by my looks but it is not.

LIKE TO KNOW, WHAT IS THAT ONE YOUR PROFILE PIC??? SOMETHING DARK AND WEIRD? AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAT. JUST OUT OF CURIOUSITY TOO? YOUR TRIBAL AFFILIATION HAS LIKE 5, HOW'S THAT? AND MANY MORE?

I'M FULL-BLOODED DINE. GREW UP ON THE REZ UNTIL ANOTHER TRIBE TOOK OUR LAND AND THE GOVERNMENT THREW US OUT! THAT SUCKED. BUT I CAN TALK FLUENT, JUST NOT THE ANCIENT WORDS THAT THE MEDICINE MENS USE, IT'S PRETTY COMPLICATED. MY DAUGHTER IS VERY LIGHT-SKINNED TOO. I GOT A FEELING SHE'LL GROW UP WITH THAT NOTION. MY DAD CALLS HER, "asdzaa litso". HE MEANS TO CALL HER LIGHT-SKINNED WOMAN.
Fall down 7 times, get up 8. MY FAMOUS WORDS.

I do believe I am the lightest Native on the planet. ANd thats just gravey with me.I have blue green eyes and light brown hair. And yea it sux when people think that I'm tryin to be something im not. But "whatever man" . I know who I am and thats all that matters. Besides most of us dont have any control over genetics.

I've been a member here for quite awhile and I just got up enough nerve to finally post something. The reason for that is I am not full blooded American Indian. My great grandfather was half Cherokee (Rainier) and my great grandmother (his wife) was half Lenape (Blackstone)....
