Snail Mail is the only sure way of getting a message through and much more personal.

I remember when I was in Panama when the poop was hitting the fan down there as well and we were in the jungle and it has been awhile when we were out there and what do we get delivered to us? The mail!!! I even had a few letters. It was like getting a X-mas present.

Thinking back on all this is making me teary eyed...
j/k The good ole days indeed.

I remember hearing about that when the folks reporting over there would do highlights on NW soldiers over there... seemed like they were all glad to be able to say something to family back home 'cause they didn't get much of a chance to send e-mail home, much less read it! That was the year I got laid off from a really good job because of cutbacks... at least they all gave and excellent reference for me to my new employer.

Take care when you're over there... we'll all be praying for ya !

I am proud of people like you, I am glad you liked the smileys. They had some, like a huey, that was cool but I didn't know what you did in the military. Thank you for making the world a safer place for people like me.

I am so glad that they have computer tents for you guys.
So they can keep in touch with the people they care about.
That is kewl...meaning the smileys. I have been in the military for over 15 years, 20 if I had stayed in but I was out of the military for awhile,(5 yrs) and I have seen alot of changes in weapons, uniforms, and the use of satellites. Even the food is getting a little better. Not by much though. And the pay is finally getting better too. And the technology does help keep the world keep in touch.

Nothing like that when I was active duty... you guys got some really cool tech stuff now... I just hope they keep it as up-to-date as possible to keep you on top of everything when you're in the field.

I had a really freeky thing happen this afternoon - my truck was stolen while I was in orientation for my new job... (see "prayer circle" thread)... and now I'm sitting in the place where I'll be working at someone's computer (they're on leave) visiting with you guys

...talk about being on powwows.com while "at work" - I can't leave until my friend gets off... good thing she lives in the same area as I do...

If you guys got something to say to me... I'm here for another hour and a half.... then on the road for an hour....
