That is really great AF. I can relate to that one. I met my brother when i was in the 5th grade and then again in 8th. We didnt lose contact again after that but he was killed on his 27th B-day on a motorcycle that my Father gave him earlier that day. It is very hard to lose a sibling.90% Angel

I got to spend most of a day with my dad on the day he died. He spent lots of time with me normally, but it was like he knew that he was going to die that day, so he took it off to spend with me.
I don't know that this thread is going the way PW expected (or maybe it is), but very few people truly understand the value of the time they are given. That time is probably the greatest gift given to us by the Creator, and therefore it leads to the "best" things in our lives. Wow, maybe I should get a PhD in philosophy? LOL.A tater tot is worth a thousand fries.

yeah it is hard.. but in his case fer the better....Im just glad i got to spend that time with him..It used to bug me he would come in from Vancouver during summers and no one would tell me he was down.. then one summer.. it was more or less a fluke.. i like to look at as it was meant to be... but we hooked up and it was the best thing ever.. to have such a wonderful relationship with him even if it were fer only a year.

I am so happy you got to spend the day with your dad. When my dad died from stomach cancer, he made us all leave after we spent about a week in his home with him. I didnt want to leave but he didnt want us on "Death Watch" and we always respected Daddy's wishes. He died less than a week later. My happiest memmories are preserved and I believe that is how he wanted it. I think they know too. He had been sick for one year and a month with Stage four cancer and that puts him in the top one percent of people that survive that long. He knew just when to send us away. Thank you for your story.90% Angel

Yeah it's funny how sometimes they just seem to know. My dad actually was only given till 3 or 4 to live, and when he made it that far they were able to give him till 10. Then he lived to 32. Everything happens for a reason. Guess that means I've got something important to do somewhere along the line!
I think the long illnesses are harder to deal with for exactly the reasons you mentioned PW. It's always easier (I think) to remember the bad parts than the good parts, so if there are less bad parts, there are more good parts to remember (rambling). I'm glad you have been able to keep the good memories alive!A tater tot is worth a thousand fries.

by k9soldierIt's coming...that time of year when I once again embark on a pilgramage of survival. I load up 20 dogs and take to the highway, headed south and hopefully warmer weather. As I plan for the trip, I marveled at how quickly the year had past, and remembered a homecoming funny from last spring.... and...
