I dont have any daughters. When my son goes to college next year, I am sure I will miss him. I dont think its quite the same as with a daughter though. I am excited for my son to make his own path in life and to enjoy what he can become.

My daughter was the last to leave the nest to go to college and it was hard on us. We didn't know what to do, it was almost like a death in the family. She was only about 1 1/2 hrs away and we saw her every weekend and she played college softball, so we would see her at games during the week. But it was still hard not to have her giggles and smiley face around the house. (But boy our food bill went waaayyyy down ha ha)

This gave my husband and I time to do more stuff together and come and go without having to worry about her getting home safely at night, etc. You learn to enjoy it and just pray that they are safe wherever they are. But don't be surprised if you miss their call and they wanna know where you were!! hee hee

        Good luck!

IF YOUR LIKE OUR MOM SHE'LL FIND REASON TO COME OVER UNANNCOUNCED OR SEND OUR ONLY BROTHER OVER OR HAVE DAD DRIVE BY WHEN HE THINKS WE DON'T KNOW. BUT IT JUST MEANS THEY LOVE AND CARE ABOUT US. WE LIVED IN THE DORM OUR 1ST YEAR BUT NOW THEY GOT US OUR CONDO AND ITS KOOLERZ HAVEING THEM SURPRISE VISIT US. SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO DO A MAD RUSH TO HIDE THE BEER BOTTLES BUT WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE THEM AND THEY US EVEN WHEN WE DON'T LIVE UNDER THEIR ROOF. BEST OF ALL WE'RE ONLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES DRIVE FROM THEM.

Awww, the empty nest. Don't worry she'll be back asking questions and calling with more questions. Our 20 yr. old foster daughter moved out on Friday to live with her boyfriend and hubby went into his usual empty nest depression. After sending 3 off to college he should be used to it by now. Just remember she will be home for holidays, to raid your pantry, borrow your ironing board, use your washer and dryer, and a hundred other things, so she's not really gone.
Oh, you also have just become very smart! Because you know about rental/house insurance, what products work best to clean old stains, ect.. when our oldest moved into his 1st. house he was shocked to find the former owners had taken all the light bulbs with them and the toliet paper rolls were empty. All of a sudden hubby and I were a treasure trove of information that he desperately needed.
Enjoy your empty house and the chance to connect with your husband with out the kids. It could be like a 2nd honeymoon for the 2 of you.
A friend of mine once told me that until they have moved all of their stuff out of the basement/attic they are not really gone.
Courage is just fear that has said it's prayers.
