yes ladies...tell your stories. leave out the bloody details! but what were u doing when u went into labor, how long did it last? the reason why i started this thread...because its underRATED. we go thru some stuff and we should be commended of becoming mothers! be proud of your stretch marks!!!!
it was at 330 am and my water broke. i called the doctor and the nurse said i need to wait until my contractions are 5 min apart for a hour. and then she even advised me to go to bed! i went to take a shower and i started having pains in there( around 433am) I said okay, well i better write these down and wait one hour to make sure its not false right? so at 500am they were 3min apart! what!? thats not suppose to happen. i was in pain! i didnt want to wake anyone in the house(dad, 3 nieces and nephew) so i was in the bathroom biting on a towel! and no i didnt have my hubby-he was in iraq! my mom is in heaven! o no! - i thought. i called my sister and she said she was on her way. tell me why it took her 45 min to get there?! she lives 15 min away! they were then 2 min apart! she picked me up at 6am and i got to the hospital at 620. i couldnt even walk! they thought i was being over dramatic until they got me on that bed and his little head was peeking out! i almost had him at my house! that would of been scary!
he was born at 721am. it was very quick, no pain medication. but its the contractions that hurt not the actually labor.
i will do it again, hopefully it wont be as sudden as this one. (3 hrs!)

      i have four children

my 24 yr old daughter was a 4 day labor continous. she was 'sunny side' up which
is why it took so long. she was 9lbs 6oz. my 20 year old son was a tricky pregnancy. i had to
stay in the hospital awhole week before he was born because there was previa placenta. i
couldn't go into labor at home. he needed to be resusitated and weighed 6lbs 3oz. i almost bleed
to death after he was born because they were toooo busy getting him to breath and i didn't tell them
i was bleeding. my 11years old was a scheduled ceasaren section because his placenta was also
over my cervix. my 10 year was an emergency c-section because his placenta came apart from the
uterus (because i picked up his older toddler brother). he was in distress for about 15mins, my dr
was really rushing to get me in the surgical suite. if i had been born at the turn of the century,
i would have been one of those women who died in child birth. The younger children weighed in around
      8lbs each.
      it's been a long time, shouldn't have left u.

Ladies, I salute you!!! Isn't it amazing that women are willing to go through childbirth more than once given the experience?

I've got 4 kids. Each labor and delivery were different-short too. My longest labor was 4 hours-my first. It was also the most memorable. I ended up with toxemia(ecamplsia). About 45min. before my son was born, the doctor told me how bad things were-he said I had a less than 20% chance, but he was going to do everything he could to save the baby. Not long after that a nurse came into my room asking me if I had had any visitors, then she left. My husband came in a few minutes later to let me know what was happening--he had gone to a payphone to call my parents, on his way back to see me, that nurse had stopped him to let him know I had visitors-she was standing in the doorway to the lounge as she was speaking to him. She told him 3 elderly Indians were there to see me-2 women and a man. When they entered the lounge, there was noone there, and that was the only door. Since my parents more than 3 hours away, it couldn't have been them. That nurse looked all over for them. Needless to say all worked out ok for both me and the baby--he is now 22!--------I think they were there to help.

Mine was a comedy in errors at first. Woke up at 3am in labor (finally! the baby had been due in Mid Aug. this was the 2nd of Sept.!) I paced, ate a bit, took a shower told hubby when he woke up around 7am that I was having minor contradtions. He said it was probably more false labor which we had been dealing with off and on for almost 3 months. Not wanting to scare him and the pains were about 15 minutes apart I didn't argue. Around 11am I told him I need to go to town and get some things and then we needed to go to the hospital. Thats when we had the argurement! He quoted the STUPID child birth class instructor saying if you think your in labor your probably not, it you don't you are. WE WENT to the hospital after I threatened to drive myself. Dr. sent us home said there was no rush until I started haveing frontal contractions. So I was back home by 2pm. At 7pm. pains were 1 minute apart and we were headed back to the hospital. Hubby stops half way there and says " we don't have a boys name picked out yet.' I told him to DRIVE! the baby would tell us his name when he got here which felt like it was going to be soon! Well, She didn't arrive until 6:55am the next morning. Born with a full head of black hair, 22 1/2 inches long and 7 pounds 5 ounces. Labor lasted 28 hours, NEVER HAD a frontal contraction it was all back labor. My dad always teased me because she was born Labor Day weekend and brought home on Labor Day. He always said I took the holday literally that year.
Courage is just fear that has said it's prayers.

I was sittin on the couch eatin some capn' crunch with the hubby when I heard a snap sound in my body and this tickle feeling ...well.. down there.. you know. I was like.. oh crap I think my water actually broke this time! so went to the bathroom carefully but only a trickle... my kid was resting her head on my bladder for like forever and she'd head butt or squirm and litterly squeeze the pee outta me so I would think my water broke LOL... anyhow i figured that's what happened then too, but what happened is she moved down so low , even though the water broke she was stopping it from coming out more than a tiny tiny trickle. So I went to a BBQ , dedication ceremony in the park with my hubby.
That's when the contractions started... kinda annoying but not painful so I was like.. ok MAYBE i'm pregnant... but I'm not going till I know for sure. Everyone thought I was kidding when they asked how I was doing and I said.. well in two days I'm due but I might be in labor right now.
Afterwards we went to McDonalds' cause I was pregnant and of course.. starving. Half way through the meal them BIG contractions started hitting and it made me jump OUT of my seat and I was doing this wiggle that looked kinda like a painful pee pee dance and Rob looked at me and said, "What the F are you doing????" I looked at him and said... uh.. yeah, I'm convinced it's time to go to the hospital NOW.
We stopped by the house to get my bag.. and the whole time I"m waiting in the car going.. hurry up *$^#%#*@!!! While he's inside telling the roomates it's time and waiting for one of them to make up his mind if he's coming with us or not.. which he did.
Yep.. I got to the hospital and was definitly in labour.. actually just starting to see the beginning of hard labour actually... Missed the X-files season finale (ticked me off, it was the one right before the movie tying it into the movie and the season premier for next year and I STILL have'nt seen it even in re-runs) because my labour was never regular and I was sitting in a jacuzzi trying to relax enough for them to come regular. Well 19 hours of labour total, 6 of which was hard... I came close to having a C section because I might be a big fat gal, but my hips apparently are very narrow and she got stuck... I ticked off the doctors and continued pushing her out when they said to stop and breathe because I wanted her out and not have my pelvis broken...she came out too LOL! all 6 lbs of her. All that hell for such a tiny baby.. sheesh!
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear... just sing, sing a song.sigpic

The heartbreak of labor gone wrong

All of you ladies are very lucky to have your children. Not many of you know that my partner and i lost a baby under unusual circumstances last August.

The day (monday night) that i went into the hospital for an induction, I was 42 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby boy (i had an ultrasound the 4 days before). The induction (2 1/2 dialated) was not proceding so it was decided to give me oxytocine wednesday morning. The contractions came every 30 seconds and lasting for 2 minutes, it was decided to give me an epidural at about 11:30. About 2:00, doctors decided to do a fetal scalp sampling, it was then that his heart beat dropped to 66 and i was whisked away for an emergency c-section. When i woke, my son had died from the lack of air (review committee findings-asphyxia due to improper monitoring). My beautiful 9 and 1/2 baby boy was gone.

My partner and i started trying again in February. We were able to get pregnant but i suffered a miscarriage last week (8 weeks).

I ask myself, "How many kicks to the head can i take?". At this moment, I'm 0 for 3, but i tell myself that I can take as many kicks as it takes to have just one baby, not two not three, just one!!!!

Ladies, hug your children for this one who can't hug hers.

oh...dakota.....that must of been horrible. wouldn't known what to do in that situation. leave it in God's hands and it will all be well. everything happens for a reason. i was told that i could never get pregnant. i was told that i would have to be art. insemenated(spelled wrong or okay?), anyway, before my husband went to iraq- i prayed to the Lord to bless me. the very next week, i was pregnant! so just have faith.

How heartbreaking for you. Sounds like your body just needs a rest. You know you can get preggers. Hang in there. I hope you come back here in a year and tell us 'guess what!!!' with a big smile on your face!!!!!
