                  Some Montana stats...

Fort Belknap...7100+ enrolled, 3000+ are Assiniboine and 4000+ Gros Ventre. About 50% live on the rez. Requires total of 1/4 Assiniboine or Gros Ventre, plus any other; AND must have relative on tribal rolls in 1921 during land allotments.

Fort Peck...12000 members+ about half living off rez. Tribal Ordinance of 1960 requires must be on the basic roll in 1960, then be a descendant of a person on that roll. Those enrolled since 1960 who don't qualify otherwise must have one-quarter or more Assiniboine or Sioux blood.

Blackfeet Rez...14000+ enrolled approimately 50% on the rez. 1/4 minimum BQ required.

Rocky Boy's...8000+, with half off the rez. ONE HALF BQ required! However, if you leave the rez and are gone 10 years you can be stricken from the rolls (at least it used to be that way). God bless the Windy Boy's!

Crow Agency...12000+, 75 percent live on the rez! 1/4 Crow BQ required per the Crow Constitution.

Little Shell (landless) 5000+ Have to prove 1/8th Pimbina Chippewa from Turtle Mtn blood. Even then, hard to do...

Northern Cheyenne...8000+ with 1/3rd off the rez.Almost half the enrolled members are 50% or more Northern Cheyenne. 1/8th Northern Cheyenne bq minimum.

Salish-Kootenai...9000+ about half on the rez.Over 20% enrolled have one-half or more Indian blood. Since 1960 bq is 1/4 minimum. Sad to say, of the Flathead reservation's population, only about 30% are NDN, the rest are Whites (land allotments).

                                Hey all,

It looks to be a concern here, so I will state up front that I am a white dude. I am also bipolar. I have friends from many different cultures, and some from different Native tribes. In my search for an answer to why I have been given this way of being, I decided to ask other...

Various comments in this forum have sparked me to ask all of you exactly what you think about blood degree for enrollment.

Understand that blood degree for recognition or eligibility to be enrolled in a federally recognized tribe is a policy of the federal government.
