i was trying to find a jingle dancer to talk to about my grand-Daughter
Please excuse me i am lost here on first day i guess ill start at the begining i am a northern traditional dancer my Daughters all grew up dancing northern Shawl. we do not compete as i feel it is wrong to judge one eagle against another and for money .too much bad feelings too much politics ....i dont condem it ,to each thier own. my daughters wanted to dance jingle and i said no because... we all heard the stories of jingle dance and dress, it is a medicine dress and i was told by several elders that you just dont make a dress you have to have permission.....so....years went on and my oldest daughter had woman problems and was told she would never carry a baby well after seeing her go through the depressions and all ...she concieved after 9 1/2 months of hell and a multitude of frantic emergency room visits she fought all the odds and delivered a baby girl.. a very...she was brought in the dance arena by her uncle at 1 year and she is three now...we made her a northern shaw outfit and she loves to dance. my wife noticed her dancing one day and she was holding herself and dancing jingle sort of. she loves the sounds of the lids we talked for a while and i thought this was sign everyone thinks the dress calls her...i had contacted the mili lacs band (the people who the dress originated and they in short told me no one gets or gives permissions anymore.......i still have thier original reply saved
so i ask what heck can i do as a tradionalist,,,what the heck do i tell this child?
