LOL. How bout , how native is your white world?

I'm fine. Just catching up on any postings I might've missed.

No it wasn't anything you did wrong. I like this site too. People may disagree on here from time to time but at least there doesn't seem to be as much controversy like there is on some sites I've been on. All that back and forth childish bickering doesn't solve anything anyhow.

I thought of a title for a new thread. " How Bleak is your Native world'.

I know.........but the "bickering", sorry to say, will never seize in our life time. Go for the "How Bleak is you Native World", can you imagine the responses?

Reminiscing

i know i am not that old of a person but alot of the stuff you guys are writing brings back memories of when i was a child. the winters here in the mountains we would go without power. we would have no running water because the pipes would freeze. luckily though we had a spring back behind our house so we were able to get water and boil it on top of the wood stove. i remember mom cooking soup and stuff on the wood stove. i had fun in those days because it makes me appreciate what we have now. todays kids are so disrespectful and think everything should just be given to them. it is like they are ashamed od who they really are. i am proud to be who i am and i am so happy that there is an immersion class in the daycare system which is teaching the young one the language. my child is in that class and there is another class so we have two of them now. hopefully though the whole school systems here will taught in our language.

Awwwwwwww. the good ol days. I remember my Grandma cooking and baking her bread from a woodburning stove from my GreatGrandmother house and all the Christmases there with all the people from the Res going there. Such warm memories. Yes, some of the kids do not have any respect for their Elders.

Thank-you so much....Yes they are alright now. Neice is at home and my Granddaughter will be on dyalisis today for a couple of hours. Sure am happy to communicate with her now. She was able to hold fluids down yesterday. Did you have problems with this site?I haven`t been able to get through for a couple of days............again.Thanks so much.........

I do not make fun of people. Especially when they want to learn. That is so awesome. Never been to Alaska yet. Whew! 200% humidity..........think not. Can`t stand the 110degree humidity we sometimes get during the summer here.

LOL I was talking about my appearance .. braid all doubled up so it would'nt be in my face or in lye water.. all blotchy from the heat...tatto flashin...

My Granddaughter is in Vancouver Hospital due to kidney failure and my niece is in the same place for high sugar and a death in the family. Talk about threes, eh? Pray for our family?

Hey here's some pics of me finally learning to lye the corn last summer. My cousin Bubs taught me. I learn things like this better hands on so I took the opportunity when he offered this summer. No making fun of me.. it was 94 degrees or hotter and we were standing in front of a gas turkey fryer in the sun with 200% humidity.. I'm not used to that anymore LOL!!!

intersting point Bear, there are many inventions that were thunk up by some of us dumb indians, but the credit was not given, or even being part of the process. i guess i will answer this the same, i have white teeth, and white sheets, i have a white cat and a white car, i have a lot of music by white people. i know a lot of cherokees that are white, and..... well you get the idea right. my thought on this is that this is a little different than the other thread, as we with out a doubt use t hings in our lives that have credit going to a white person when the pats should go to some crafty native.
a question for Bear, if you would be so kind please to share with me what a 3 sister garden is? if you do not want to say it here i understand just pm or email me.

A three sisters garden consists of corn, beans and squash. The three grown together benefit each other... eh, I'll let you read what this site says cause they explain it better than I do LOL!! Corn has a hard time growing up here in alaska cause the summer is so short, but I'm thinking I start about 12 plants indoors starting next month maybe, and by time it's warm and ready to plant they should be ready to go in the ground and get the beans and squash going. The corn has to be so high before you start the other two anyhow.

I'm sorry.. I musta missed a post or message somewhere... what did you want to know about three sisters gardens? To be honest, this is the first year I'll have done one. I've grown corn before and I've grown other veggies before but not the traditional way or with traditional corn but now i have seeds, property and good soil so I'm going for it.
