Just wondering where other NDNs stand on this immigration issue.....

There was this person who was an immigrant that wrote to our local paper and was biitching about new immigrants that cant speak english...that they were in canada now learn to speak english....i grew up in a racist home..i choose to be nice to everyone...thats not a point..i dont really have a point im juss posting to poast as usual...anywayz if they want to live in canada so be it.

OK, about this topic...there have been sooo many protests around here and if theres another one, I think I'm going to scream !! Not to mention how they're treating everyone that goes down to Mexico now for vacation!
I have lived in California most of my life. What I think it's REALLY about is: The folks that come here, not just Mexican's k? Need to become citizens and participate in voting, keeping our laws, etc... and not just "grab" what they feel like from the working class tax payers here. It's hard enough to get a job now unless you speak both English & Spanish (around here) and the "Lesser job's" or jobs the polititians are sayin' that no one will fill except the Mexican's is just not true! I know lots of people who are long time citizens that would work them, but got pushed out by the non-english speaking folks by one way or another...got "fed up" and gave up, and let them have the job! It's about the attitudes...some people think we "owe it to them". Mexico, pure and simple want this part of the country back. Period!! We got caught up, when a long time ago, made a trade agreement with them (way before alot of us were even born) on the understanding and in return, the Mexican's could immigrate here for a better life. Then when they closed the border's because they weren't becomming citizens and our health care was getting costly, all hell broke loose. OK...ummm....sooo now we reap what was sewed. The End

I a few problems with this situation. First, they must learn to speak English, so much money is spent by our county, state, and federal governments to print all these extra languages. That money could be spent elsewhere to help someone who needs it. Second, I worked with some friends who came from Mexico, and I asked, what if we were to go to war forwhatever reason with Mexico, would you fight for us. Their answer was no. Being a soldier, I have a problem with that. Third, thru natural growth in population, I feel our country can not support too many people. Our resources just can't handle it. We need to think about what our country can support in the future for our children. But money talks and bullsh-t walks.

My problem with it is that they come over here and demand things they are not entitled to all the while waving the mexican flag and proclaiming thier love of Mexico.But they dont have the courage to riot in thier own country to change it.They also claim to be indiginous,but yet they have no respect for life,not even their own.They wanna make this "Aztlan".......nothing but gutless cockaroaches...

Around Minneapolis, there are ALOT of Somali immigrants. They get to live TAX FREE for 7 years. They get all these nice cars, nice houses in nice parts of the city, and they want more, more, more. They are on welfare, and always want more. I dont get how they get everything they want, when already born americans have to work hard to keep food on the tables, roofs over our heads and clothes on out backs. Plus they drive like theyre still in Africa, (like****) dont mean to sound racist, but with them, sometimes I am.

Especially with Natives. I know some tribes have a pretty sweet per cap. But some dont.<--but all that is a different topic.)

I have no problem with immigrants but if you are going to move to another country where the mass majority of people speak another language than you it just seems like common sense to learn that particular language. I mean even when english speaking people go to Mexico or to France or anywhere else in the world they are expected to know the language even if they are there just for a vacation. If they expect us to learn enough of their language to be able to get around on a week long trip then they at least need to learn enough of our language to get them through when they come to live here.

I would have no problem with immigrants IF they would learn English, pay taxes, follow our laws and not expect the U.S. tax payers to give them a free ride. Unfortunely this isn't the way things have worked. Maybe the new laws will change things but I don't believe they will. I do know that in our area most businesses ask if you can speak Spanish when hiring now. All the local schools now are required to have a translator for Spanish speaking students and that is really cutting into our educational budget.

It's true! I tottally agree! This is what they really do! I'm sorry BEG if it sounds racist...we're just stating what's true. I have many Mexican friends that are "fed up" with they're people acting this way. It's true in most cultures I know of "One bad apple CAN spoil the whole bunch..girl!" hhhmmmm...don't know if I should have put that in there...but you get what I'm sayin'.

I am definitley not white nor supremist....in fact due to my ancestors habit of taking Spanish captives there is some Spanish blood in the mix down the line.I am a veteran and many of my native brothers and sisters have served this country down thru the years and today as well to insure that ALL american citizens have these rights that are being abused by a people who did not earn them nor do they have the courage it takes.When you or I break the law we are held accountable....what makes them above the law?They made the decision to break the law.
I have been asked by Mexican friends why I am taking sides with the white man.I am not....I am siding with the RED,WHITE an BLUE....
and besides the white man met us on the field of battle....the only honorable way for a warrior.If they want my country they must vanquish me on the battlefield by force of arms,surrender is not an option....this is the way of a warrior people.
The white man has lost his warrior spirit and he must regain it for the countries sake...when he does I will stand shoulder to shoulder with him to insure OUR victory....for you must remember that we are part of the land that is being given away........

there are plenty of ndn people who wouldn't join this countrys armed forces to fight their battles on foreign land...i think ur comment about that applies to every race in this country and don't think it should be a requirement...

there are loop holes in the system..i saw on cnn that there wuz this mexican family down in ga...they came here illegally..BUT the gov't says they can stay here if they pay taxes..and u know what...they do...they are a hard working family who just wanted a better life for their kids...

i find it ironic how the immigrants are whinning about the immigrants...in the end they just want the samething...

i know plenty of hispanics at my other job...they may not have came here illegally but i'll tell u..they work hard...they do ****ty work for ****ty pay...and in my opinion its not right...not only that they work crazee hours but they don't get overtime...and why not?? cuz people take advantage of the fact that their english is limited and they don't really know how the system works...and that whole learn english thing...not all of them only speak spanish...

and while we're on the topic..why is only mexico mentioned..what about haiti?? n cuba?? i'm sure that there are some "illegals" from those countries...

yeah i think there should be some order to it..i mean risking ur life in the back of some truck is not worth...

oh and why is everyone saying these "illegals" are taking away jobs..what about the outsourcing of jobs that i believe bush encouraged??

My brother-in-law works at a place where 80% of the workers are immigrants and they make some GOOD money. I think they start at $10 -$12. Are they taking away jobs from US AND Native workers? You betcha!

An interesting story on CNN this morning. There's a hardworking family that's been here 15 years. The father only planned on staying here a few years then moving back, but since he has his family now and all 4 kids are citizens they're staying. They kids spoke great English and were writing the signs for the protest walk they were doing today.

The parents didn't even TRY to speak a word of English.

AND most illegal workers are paid illegally and that means no payroll tax. Maybe they pay sales tax, but income tax??? I doubt it.

My wife and I were watching the news last night, and, they were showing the immigrant rally. They showed this one guy, who, has been in VA for five years illegally, was talking about he loves it here. He said that he has bought a house here and is raising his children here. My wife got really upset. She said, here it is they can just up and buy a house, we have to struggle to get one. She was really upset.

I'm not against immigrants. I'm against ILLEGAL immigrants. If y'all get the chance, y'all watch Immigration Nation on the A&E Channel. The show said that Georgia has the fastest growing immigration population of all the states. Yet, they are being hired as Day Labor workers only. That way, who ever is hiring them won't have to pay taxes.

That 99% the United State's population have ancestors who came to this country as ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!!
