The mexicans are getting most of the blame because they are not just wanting rights but are preaching revolution in order to take what they claim is "thiers" under the guise of being indigenous.Doesnt it sound familiar for someone to claim being NDN when it is conveinent to do so.It is true that all besides us natives are immigrants.......we did not stop that wave and look where we are......if we dont stop this one just imagine where we might be..........

As a soldier, I do feel it is a responsiblity that everyone who enters and lives in this country be willing to defend it. Like I said earlier, it's part of the swearing in of new citizens, to defend this country against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Of course not all people who live here are doing just that. It's their right, but if a draft were to happen, then all who are called must do their duty. If you don't like what is happening in the world, then vote for something different. But as a citizen, all might be require to do things they feel they are against. I don't like what is happening, but I do my duty according to my commitment. I also vote, and I voted against the leaders we have. As for hard workers, I have worked with many races, and again all races have good workers and bad workers. Latino's are not always the hardest workers. I whole complaint about this thread is that there has to be a cut off somewhere, sometimes. Unfortunitly it's the Latino's who are coming over the most at this time in our history, and they are getting most of the blame. Everything is on supply and demand. Be it jobs, gas, food, polution, everthing. Our country can only support so many people. I feel it's time to cut off others coming in and let our country grow thru natural growth. It's not to demean anyone, it's to attempt to get people to realize there's not enough for everyone. We have enough problems on our own to worry about.

just a couple of cents here ... seems to be ALOT of bashing of illegal/legal immigrants here ... that they are all murders, drunk drivers and scam welfare.

there's alot of native ppl out there that do alot of the same things ... how many native women YOU know who are getting welfare/food stamps/WIC while their "boyfriends" or "legally seperated" husbands are working full time - while they live in the same household? theres alot of murder victims out there that were murdered by legal citizens of the US and are never found or prosecuted either ... and one of the counsellor from my first nation just recently got his licence back from a drunk driving violations from like 10 years ago ...

will keeping illegal or legal immigrants out of the great ol united states of america really stop all these problems?

The lead singer's daughter was murdered by an illegal immigrant, from south of the border, while she was living in the Dallas area.

Justice could not be served because this illegal immigrant simply went back across the border and cannot be prosecuted!

This murder has traumatized the lead singer.

The news media has done a bit of reporting on the "immigration" problem. There are two issues that are glossed over.

The first and most disappointing is that there is little said on what makes an immigrant "illegal". Most people assume "Rio Grande swimmers" and that's the stereo type that the media plays on. I am a US citizen legally married to an [Irish] foreign national. My wife entered this country legally. Yet, over the last 11 years my wife has been legal, illegal, and legal again. Right now I am forking over yet more money to attorneys to keep her from once again becoming illegal.

The enforcement of immigration laws are capricious. INS plays a game to satifsy the dictates of the GAO. The GAO mandates that INS meet certain targets for denying claims, issuing deportation orders and executing those orders. If an INS agent hasn't met his quota this month - look out... because the paperwork you submit has to satisfy that indivdual agent!

The second issue is one that has to do with native peoples, particularly the Tohono O'odham, whose lands lie on both sides of the US/Mexican border. To read what falls outside of the 30 sec soundbites that pass for news try :

Canadian-born ndns who are 50% BQ are protected by Article III of the Jay Treaty (see http://www.ptla.org/wabanaki/jaytreaty.htm for more information). But this protection does not extend to spouses or children.

SO.... it's not just Mexicans "climbing the fence" or Haitians or Cubans "washing ashore". ndn people are being affected too. Northern peoples indirectly (the whole BQ thing) and southern peoples directly.

I would think that outrage should be focused where it belongs: on a government which is so hopelessly drowning in it's own inefficiencies that it cannot sort out keeping its borders secure whilst using common sense to accomplish this goal.

And y'all would be well advised to start checking to see if anyone is using your social security number. Most of the illegals are using fake ss cards with real ss#'s to work, and if they apply for a car or house loan, or credit of any kind, they are using a social security number.

Also, if they use yours or your kids' ss# to file an income tax return, that means YOU can't use it to file yours, and they could end up with your income tax return money. Or the IRS can come after you for unreported income-the money the illegal made using your ss#.

I work at DHS and see this all the time, and when I question where they got the social security number they get defensive and try to say its none of my business. I run the numbers to see if they are in our system then go to the social security database to verify whether or not the number is theirs...right in front of them. It comes back that its not and I report them for fraud...right in front of them. Most of them tell me I have no right to do that, despite the fact that it is a federal felony offense to be using a social security number not specifically issued to the person by the US Gov't, that illegal aliens do not have any right to privacy, and they are hurting others by using their ss#. They DO NOT care who they are hurting.

Also, the women keep having kids by the same guy, but he's ALWAYS in Mexico. So they get welfare benefits(Food stamps/medicaid) for their legal kids, and even AFDC. You know the husband is in the home, working, and making enough money that they wouldn't qualify for benefits at all, but there's no way to prove it.

Employers hire illegals specifically so they don't have to pay payroll, income, social security/medicaid, workers comp, or unemployment insurance taxes. IF the illegal worker gets hurt on the job, the employer is not liable. The employer can fire an illegal for whatever reason and not worry about repercussions. They can freely harass, abuse, and exploit the illegals, and face no legal penalties- who's going to report it, the illegal?

The thing to do is to to go after the employers, bust them and fine them big time, maybe even send them to jail. No jobs, no reason to come up here.

We got a bunch of Hondurans who love to party loud and late, and actually threaten anyone who calls the cops. One guy had his salsa crap going really loud, and I got tired of it, so I hook my husband's amps up to our stereo system and slap in my son's Young Bird CD full blast. Got his attention!

Hey, they wanna share their music, why not share ours?

you make some very good points. compared to other places we let people get away with too much. its prob. why we have been a target to other countries like what happened in 9/11.

So do you demand that they learn the english language or be forced to speak it? We was here first and maybe everyone should learn the native language from the region they live in.
As I wrote in a earlier reply, they need to learn the language to be able to get along with the business comunity. Our elders were forced to learn English, and were punished for speaking their own. No one is saying they have to forget their language. As for hard workers, I have worked in constructions back in the 80's when the first large influx of Latino's were coming in. They, like all other races I've worked with, had their good workers and their bad workers. So to say they work harder as a group is disrespectful of all other groups. There is laziness and free booters in all races.

As poor aas i am i dont think america could feed many more mouths with out more changes to our system, them maybe we could take on more immigrants. right now i dont think its a good time for illegal imigrants but legal ones ar ok
There has always been borders. Each tribe protected what they concidered their land. Though they didn't lay claim as the white people did, with paper work and deeds. They still laid claim for reasons of survival, food. To cross into another tribes or villagers land without premission was very bad. Our people did fight for what they concidered theirs. Be that as it may, we have to realize that the world is what it is today. There are borders and laws, even though not all agree.
