There are upsides AND downsides to illegals.

Yeah, they take the crappy jobs, many are hard workers, some TRY to understand and learn.

The problem is that they send the money OUT OF THE COUNTRY. There is already ENOUGH of that going on.

Yeah the landscapers are getting good workers that they pay $5 an hour to mow lawns that they collect $50-100 per month to do. I havent seen a lawn take more than an hour, so the landscaper scumbag is getting 45-95 per hour just because he owns the mower and picks up a guy on the corner. A BAD landscaper has AT LEAST 50 accounts. Thats 50 houses, 1 cut per week, that is $10,000-20,000 monthly! of which $800 goes to the immigrant.

Im tempted to become a scumbag landscaper. My friend has 150 accounts and 2 workers. He pays them $10 and gives them bonuses. I dont even want to know what he makes becuase he isnt the sharpest knife in the draw. He is only a landscaper becuase his father was.

But that is america. the rich people run it and dont care that the middleclass and poor are losing money to illegals, as long as THEIR bank account (which is usually OVERSEAS) has a lot in it.

The wrong people are making the best living in this country.

At least that is how it is in MY area.

i'm not really sure of the specifics of this "new" immigration policy but following the immigration policies and procedures IS the only route to go ....

i cant tell you just how many "illegal" native people (from the usa) are in this area - central sask. they have families here and ask to get paid in cash using stupid excuses like "its not native culture to receive checks" (to get around having to produce a Social Insurance Number) - f'in laughable i know but i know its happened and this was from a well known male fancy dancer from the states ...

my spouse was here illegally for a short time and he was deported back to the usa and we lived in the states for awhile (i guess i was illegal too i guess .. lol). but he has since applied for and was granted landed immigrant status aug of 2000 and in 2010 he can apply for canadian citizenship (of which he's not entirely sure he will apply for ... but he does say he likes canada more the usa ... but dont tell anyone .. lol)

in the past couple of years we've had other families/couples ask "how" he did it - was able to work here and live here legally. we told them and where to go and how much it will cost (around $3000 + in immigration fees and what burns me now is in the last election the new government has promised to do away with these immigration fees ... basturds!! lol). and now they have immigrated legally and work here .... but there still are illegals in there area askin to be paid in cash .. lol

and you really have to think of these people coming from war torn areas and areas that ethnic cleansing is happening ... where they cant even walk out their front doors without fear of being shot at (and this is the situation in some AMERICAN cities right now i know - just what that micheal moore movie (bowling for columbine) where he compares detroit and the canadian city across the lake windsor (i think) where they are both relatively the same size but ppl in windsor dont lock their front doors!!)

or where ppl are making like 16 hour days for 6 cents an hour to make the beads for mardi gras? for people in the states?!?

but to force someone to learn a language? i dont know about that sure it'll make live "easier" for non bilingual ppl but they in turn lose an aspect of their culture - do you really want a world of cookie cutter american-style ppl out there?

Some observations, newly moved to Bushland

Most of you know that I was born and raised in California and grew up in both Latino and African American communities. There some folks took me for Latino, most thought I was just mixed.
But here, in the land of Bush, I am almost always mistaken for Hispanic , and this time, by African Americans (something that never happened before). Having said that, folks have continuously wanted my opinion on immigration.

After I tell them that no, I wasn't in the march nor will I be, I tell them this:
This country has finally realized that dang, you can't have your cake and eat it too. I am so sick of people telling immigrants to go back to their country, but refuse to have their homes cleaned by Molly Maid (because Maria's sister is so much cheaper and readily available). These same people will not call Chem Lawn, because they prefer Jose's oh so reasonable package prices. Of course a package includes, lawn care, paint jobs, and cleaning service by Maria's sister all for a monthly price of $60.
So bottom line, if you have a problem with people being here illegally then do the following:
    1. Grow and pick your own produce.
    2. Cook your own food, avoid all restaurants, even the ritzy ones.
    3. Cut your own lawn, and learn to do your own handy man jobs.
    4. Raise your own children (of course us poor and middle class folks do that already).

And no, I 'm not going to the march, (yes, I'm digressing) I'm not Latino, I'm redblack and am too worried about my feathers and culture and it's sudden illegal status!

    Supah,

    I'm glad you mentioned this.

There is a major NMAI code talkers exhibit getting ready to travel across the United States.

    In this exhibit, it states,

"at the same time the United States was forcing Indian tribes to abandon their languages, it is these very languages that helped the allies win both WWI and WWII!!!"

I guess I have a different vision here. My white father is Italian, born in Italy. Fought WW2 as an Italian because his family would have been endangered if he did not. Also ran the resistance underground, and if Rome had not been liberated by us when it did, would have been executed. He so fell in love with America, he learned what the laws were, applied and came here and learned the language. He has been a citizen since 1956. He was an educated man - speaks 5 languages and started working as a sewing machine salesman because he could not break into his field. It can be done legally. So why should I be nice to you if you do not follow the laws? And there is an element of fear, we have already learned what happens if respect is not given. Have we seen respect for the US given? No we have seen people who ran from their problems and only cared for their problems and are now angry that we do not respect them- and when have they given us any respect?
so thinking about your father...and apply what the US gov't is trying to do now...and they denied your father entry for what ever reason...would u feel the same way??..life would be very different...

hey u know what...how about they all get back on the damn boat...that immigration law shouldn't apply to jus a handful...it should apply to every single immigrant...old included...

    hey i can dream can't i??

Also, (as everyone knows but is unwilling to admit) the jobs that immigrants hold and are paid for at the lower rate keeps our costs down and leaves us to seek better opportunities in a different environment. And any job you seek is going to be competitive. On top of that if you are really concerned with job loss write your congresspersons and let them know that Outsourcing is BAD!

ooo and since i'm up here on this lil rose scented soap box...
Immigrants are just like anyone else trynna make it in this lil world, seeking better life better opportunities. and if it was really about immigration... wouldn't we have border patrol on all borders with shoot to kill? you say PO-TAY-TOOO i say racism! :)

and why is it that most "cherokees" seem to only be ndn when they get something out of it... otherwise its down with brown ... all hail Bush.

ok... i think i repeated some of ya'lls same info. :)

Think about it! Natives were here and white (yellow, black, purple etc..) people came from somewhere else... hence the 99% immigrants... and also cuz ndnz only make up .08% of the total US population.

I also don't agree with the make everyone learn English! They did that to us and what good came out of it. A lot of us are just 'lost' and don't know what it means to be ndn and don't know which side to take on an issue. haha *jab, jab*

Besides, a stupid ignorant law that forces people to learn a certain language, may take the funding away for tribal peoples to finance their language preservation programs. Think about everything involving an issue before you decide your stance.

The comment wasn't directed to any one group. Our borders are open, those who we let in legally may also not be trusted. Again, somewhere, sometime, we must say no and let things grow naturally. Someday, it may be too late. We talk about using everything up and our grandchildren will pay the price. So when is the time to say no?

there are loop holes in the system..i saw on cnn that there wuz this mexican family down in ga...they came here illegally..BUT the gov't says they can stay here if they pay taxes..and u know what...they do...they are a hard working family who just wanted a better life for their kids...

i find it ironic how the immigrants are whinning about the immigrants...in the end they just want the samething...

i know plenty of hispanics at my other job...they may not have came here illegally but i'll tell u..they work hard...they do ****ty work for ****ty pay...and in my opinion its not right...not only that they work crazee hours but they don't get overtime...and why not?? cuz people take advantage of the fact that their english is limited and they don't really know how the system works...and that whole learn english thing...not all of them only speak spanish...

yeah i think there should be some order to it..i mean risking ur life in the back of some truck is not worth...

oh and why is everyone saying these "illegals" are taking away jobs..what about the outsourcing of jobs that i believe bush encouraged??

this country is all jacked up...
