FAS in relationships

Anyone know of anyone that got someone in their family or are in a relationship with someone that has FAS ( fetal alcohol syndrome) ?

I'm seein a girl who has that. She's good to me really sweet but sometimes she does stuff that annoy me. She'll act like Im not talking to her just stare off or something, or she'll hide. I've talked to her about it, she says she won't do it no more but still does it. She forgets. She forgets lots of ****. You gotta tell her something over and over. I dunno what ta do I'm afraid she don't let up I'm going git out. I dunno. She's suppose to go to a doc to give her something. I'm juss wantin to know if some peeps know about dis.

Waht about kids of kids wit it too. Are they affected even if they are not partyin and all?

Did I tell ya. I hate her parents for dis?

I hate my lil brothers birth mother too he is FAE she drank the whole pregnancy...she didnt care...wasnt keeping him anyway...its tough..and put urself in their place...life isnt easy for them...ppl think they are dumb and dismiss them so easily.

This is part of my area of study in my Addictions Counseling degree. I don't know how old you are; but there is alot of great information online. Your girlfriend is the way she is, and she will never change. You can not change an alcohol affected brain. FAS, FAE, ARND, etc. are the only preventable cause of brain damage in an unborn child. Unfortunately; any mother during any part of the pregnancy runs the risk of giving birth to an affected baby with these problems; they are playing "Russian Roulette" when they take in any amount of alcohol. I would hope that you and your girlfriend do not drink, smoke or do drugs. Any person that has FAS or FAE run the greater risk of being more easily addicted. If you and her are sexually active; please think about what I had to say. Alcohol and sex do not mix. You are in for alot now; but the best thing to do is to educate yourself. If the parents are part of the problem, and not part of a solution or help for her, you could encourage her to find help or get into a program that will help people like her.

Your Lady has developmental disabilitiesdue to the AFS. With AFS there is usually a loss of impluse contol, siezures. The staring off could be a petiti mal siezures. As for her memory, there is not much there. There needs to repetition over and over.

It is something that takes a lot of patience to deal with. She will always be that way. But with love support and understanding you can still have a great relationship. Remember it isn't her fault. My niece is now 14 and sometimes it is fustrating but I wouldn't trade her for anything on this earth.

Nah we don't do any of dat shyt. And I'm like 28 she's like 31.

What kinda programs? Her parents ain't fo shyt in her life.

I dunno so's I'm juss gonna ask. Can she be a good parent herself wit dis? She would like to get married and have kids. I mean I can do the bill payin and stuff since she has probs with figures and all. But I would wanna know if I'd always have to be worryin about things with kids and a house ya know.

I don't think she's had any seizures yet. None that I know.

I would hope you would think long and hard about this; while it is possible for her to get pregnant and have a perfectly healthy child, it's not an easy road. If she has full-blown FAS; she is a child herself, and all child rearing would fall to you or another adult.

What county in which state do you live. I can find resources near you.
The women usually vebalize a lot of having kids etc. Chances are it would go on your shoulders or the state. Please if you do have sex keep it safe sex.

tipi creper, is she this way with everyone? or just you? Please don't take offence to this ! She could be tone deaf in a sence, do you speak in a monotone? Does she find what you have to say truely interesting? when you are haveing a conversation with her do you talk about 95% of the time? If so try to keep your sentences shorter and involve her in more of the conversations. Let her tell you about what interests her and her day. Chances are she loves you a great deal.
You may not want to hear this either, but take a few minutes a day and pray with her, hold her hands and pray out loud with her. you may not know what to say so I will help you.
Pray these words: Father or ( Creator ) Thank you for another day to be with my family and loved ones, and thank you for putting this special woman in my life. As you know she has a need for a healing and we know you can and will heal her if we just believe which we do ! So Lord we humbley ask for your healing touch on this special woman ( her name )
in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen
If you would open your Bible To the book of ST. JOHN and read it, there are only 21 very small chapters. The book of ST. John is about belief and this may help the two of you.

Thanks every1. Thought I'd tell ya we aren't together anymore. She got mean towards me one night. She saw a movie and started actin that out. She said she was playing but wouldn't listen to me. Others were there and came in and talked to her. I gave her some space. Even tried to get back but things just didn't work out. Now she took off and no one knows where she is. Thanks for the words though.

Small advise from an old man...Things will probably never change. Stay cordial, but stay away. Been though this scenario. It didn't get better for me. Now, it's part of my past.
