  • Oprah visits the Navajo Nation

Oprah visited the Navajo Nation today, May 31, 2006. She filmed some segments to be used on a future show. Here is a picture my sister snapped with her cell phone.

She came from a VERY poor background, but sometimes, I think she has forgotton what it's like to live without. She "act's" nice, but I wonder....

Did she leave a load of gifts or donations somewhere? If not, I'm gonna be VERY DISAPPOINTED in her.

Plus I can totally identify with her yo-yo-ing weight issue. NOW. dammit anyway...

                      Here is another picture....

Oprah is the best! I don't know if she left any gifts or cash, but I heard she drove across our rez. She wanted to see real rez life. If she was trying to be all high and mighty, she could have just flown into W/R, did her P.R. stuff and left. I think it is cool that she came looking like a normal person. Not all made up and camera ready. She was with her bro Gayle, and they were in their own car. The crew and camera people were in different cars. No limo, no driver.

Still no word on what kind of show she is using the tape for. We will just have to wait and see.....

I attached another picture. The guy in the blue shirt is our president Joe Shirley and his wife Vicky is in the purple outfit next to Gayle. Oprah is bending over looking at a vendor stand. This picture is taken in Veterans Memorail Park below the Window Rock in Window Rock.

I notcied her Tribal Affiliation: "Navakee or Cherojo"

She's misspelled them wrong, is that "Navajo or Cherokee"?

She doesn't look like Native American in those pics.

I didn't mean to insult her, it's just she is so used to the finer things, I can't see her being very comfortable. Hopefully she will bring Native issues to national attention. I like her too.

Wow!! she is all skinny again.. looks great! I like that hair style on her too.

White Eagle.. Kiyaanis mom's tribal affiliation is a funny way of saying she's cherokee and navajo. And the pics are of Oprah Winfrey who is not indian.
