  • Do you roll your change?

How many here roll their loose change and what do you do with it? During our lean years I used to use it to help buy groceries, now I use it for extras. Last winter I paid the whole seasons bowling league dues from rolled change.

Yeah, I think it makes a difference to roll up the loose change. We have a bowl that collects all the extra silver and pennies and then the kids fish into it for bus fare, a drink or a loaf of bread.

I think there's about 20 bucks in there in loose change right now and another 14 bucks in rolled pennies/dimes.

We used to roll ours but one of the local bank chains put in coin changing machines that anyone can use for free! When times get lean we grab our "change jars" - let the bank machine count it all and spit out a piece of paper which gets turned into folding money.

I keep hoping I'll grow out of worrying about the lean times - hasn't happened yet.

Hubby does that all the time. He has helped us out so many times!!! Saved his butt from missing work too because of no gas!! It's helped us with groceries too, plus helped to finish making the house payment. Change IS good!!

I wish the banks here would get one of those machines that sort and count the change - then I'd cash it in for sure - rolling can get time consuming.

I got a bearfoots piggy bank for silver change.. no clue how much is in it but i took some out and got a nice car wash with it a couple weekends ago...

I also have a liter and a half sized Grolsch bottle (my second beer of choice) and I've been trying to fill it with pennys to see how much it would hold and man it's holding alot because I've still got the neck and just below the neck to fill and I've been working on it for 3 years now... but soon... very soon... muhahahaha! Then I'm going to use that to treat me and the hubby to something nice.

I've got a friend who's husband puts his 1 dollar bills in the change jar and she rolls the change, but the 1s in a envelope and uses the money toward romantic weekends for the 2 of them.

This year when the change container was full, I didn't roll it
I put it in the 5 gallon water bottle at the church. And when it is full, it goes towards the missions.
That change should come back a hundred fold... LOL
                  It's a nice investment. !!

I have around 4 jars in the house that i use for pennies,so when its nearly pay day,and i have'nt had time to go to the bank i just fish out them coins.Shop keepers rely on me every third Friday!A little tip aswell...When i get change from buying something,i put half in my wallet and the rest goes in my handbag..Then if i ever need anything like parking money or sweets for the kids,i just dig in there and-hey presto!!!XX

Yes, every time we find a penny while on a walk, we bring them home, let them pile up, then roll them when we're low in funds. We usually end up using it for doing the laundry or getting water or milk.
