I think it depends on who and what age the person is. When I ask my elderly mother in law that question, I get to hear some pretty gruesome details of illness, and trip to the bathroom, and all sorts of odd stuff. Not for the faint of heart details either. I'm sorta guarded, but only with strangers, and when appropriate.
