Making up your mind

How can ppl make up their minds about a person without even really knowing them?

Like for instance who is a wannabe and who isn't.
Now I know that yay if the person comes in with a plastic tom tom and paint on his face then yay hes a wannabe. But if you haven't even met the person and depedned on rumors that fly about,

then how does that person make a decision between pure mean gossip which may have come from a person who has hatred towards the accused and what is the absolute truth?

Rumors are just what they are to me rumors. The way I figure it, if you haven't met the person and know nothing about them then don't make judgment about them. So what yall think?

The truth will usually come about quickly by the persons actions no matter what is said about them.

I have seen and experienced some really sad things. People claiming to be elders/ndns, Drums on drugs, Vets removed from the circle un-warrented, and people just slammed around because of their knowlege and giving character. All of this was started by people who claim to have heard it "On The Wind" and will not expose their sources for verification.

I have a saying: If you "Hear it On The Wind", Sniff the air, 99% of the time the wind started as a result of someone passing gas!

In other words "Someone is talking out their butt hole"!

There are some very unhappy power hungry campers out there that have pulled the wool over others for a long time and just now are being exposed.

Be patient, and make up your own mind about people. When I meet people, I have very good intuition about them, and eventually what I had thought in the first place comes to be the truth. I disregard rumors, but instead use them as a way to determine and gauge the person they came from. Many people who like to talk, are not my close friends anyhow. When something comes from a good friend though, I usually make sure it is valid first, then go back to that person with what I found out. If it is not correct information, I will let them know right away.

I try my best to avoid the gossip, I make my own mind up... way back when, a good friend of mine gave me some good advice... give everyone the benifit of the doubt, if they are who they say they are, they'll prove it... if they're not... they'll prove it even faster....

Your friend gave you some good advice. I like to get to know people and make up my own mind. Years ago there was talk going around about a older lady in our community being a busy body, pain in the rear ect... She avoided most people by the time I moved here. Well I met her, was polite and friendly, now 30 years later she's a good friend of mine and hubby's. All those years she was just lonely and the only time people wanted anything to do with her was if they wanted money because she has loads. I didn't know she had money when I met her, I just knew that I had heard she was someone to avoid. I do know that she makes good chicken and dumplings and wants to learn how to use a computer. She wants me to go with her to choose the right kind for her and help us pick some programs she can put on it for when her grandson comes over. She's a nice lady, she just needed a friend who didn't want something from her.
