It doesn't. The poster is attempting to have people be in "self conflict". A very simple ploy used by cults types and other people that prey on peoples sensitivities. Kinda like those that sell the "lodge" or "quests", or add sexual aspects.
    There is no Question.
You notice no significant dialogue from the thread poster. No discussions on why it is either or.
Many have posted from one extreme of the spectrum to the other.

    What is the deal, takesallleads?
    Take the lead.
As Whome, asked, What is yuor point?

Spirituality is in my every day life, and I only made it known that the christianity and the bible "does NOT" do anything for me and my family. I was raised that way, so I know what I'm talking about. For one, many of my extended family are christians on both sides of my family. If I refer to you christians as crazy, it's just off the cuff. Just as when some christians refer to us traditional practicing folks as savages or heathens. Every time a thread comes along such as this one, I'm leary about the intentions of the person who started the thread. As you can see, I have no problem standing up for what I believe in, and I do have have my own beliefs and what works for me. Some one accusing me of being or acting white is funny, especially since you don't know me and at the same time it's sad that so many native people are blind to the christian church and it's bible. I'm happy for those that find spirituality in whatever they practice, and it's not on me to talk them out of it, so to speak. As in my own family; they practice christianity, and I practice my native ways and that is that.

WOw, you are incredibly defensive...maybe when you calm down a little, you can go back and re read my post, and you will see what I was trying to say. You are right, I dont know, and that is why I stated that what you posted made you come across in a very negative light. Very negative. And I think that "off the cuff" remarks are just as disrespectful, because you are dealing with what can be an incredible source of strength and humility for some people....their spirituality, regardless of what it is. If what you said was "off the cuff", than I am really sorry that I took you seriously...I kind of assumed that this issue would be serious..I know that I myself take my spirituality seriously, and I respect the beliefs and practices of other people. I guess maturity breeds patience and tolerance..and I sincerely hope that you come into your own.

I also wonder at you assuming that I am Christian...and I also wonder at how you make that distinction of YOU Christians and US traditional practicing folks.....very divisive.....I think that was another ploy by "religious" establishments to cause a division among the Native tribes. "Divide and conquer"...why cant it ever be "WE" natives, regardless of our beliefs. Dont assume things you dont know about....makes me think that you automatically associate tolerance and respect with ONLY Christianity, and that is just NOT the truth of it at all.

I know you are going to get all somehow about this again so I'll leave on a lighter note : "I'm far from being white, maybe you are calling the kettle black or something "
It was just a twist of words, but That was very humorous! Thanks for the giggle...

I was raised in the First Cherokee Baptist Church and untill I was 16 had no choice on Sunday.
Since I turned 16 and have the choice I have not attended that church.
I have tried many different faiths as I grew older, among them NAC and Buddhist appeal to me the most.
I am a spirtual man, but do not need organized religion to describe how I show pray or when, or what way or what portion of the bible i should use.

If it were sunday and I had to Choose between CHURCH or a POWWOW

                    POWWOW would be the choice

My own opinion and there you are...

Yeah but if Church is over at noon; you could still make afternoon grand entry on Sunday....*L*

The point I'm trying to make is that you can't compare Church and Pow wows. They are two seperate things. Pow wow dancing is a CULTURE.....not a ceremony or place of worship. As Josiah mentioned NAC, there are other native religions (which I will NOT get into on a website) which would compare to Christian "church". Also, the topic of spirituality isn't even mentioned in the topic. I was under the assumption that the thread was a joke b/c neither one is comparable. It's like asking "Basketball or comedy"? See how that makes no sense????? I don't think everyone should take the thread so seriously and get so hateful towards one another. It's amazing how "religion" which is supposed to teach peace and good will (in some cases); can cause so much anger and contempt at times.

Can't we all just get along?? You know it's crazy to me I know of certain tribes where one band can't stand another, because of things the were done 150 yers ago. Sometimes I wonder if we as Native Peoples hadn't been so devisive against each other maybe we could have bound together and forced the Europeans off of our continent??!!

Anyway, I go to both. Around here they even have church AT the powwow on Sunday mornings sometimes.

What's the intent of this thread? Everyone has strong feelings about their spirituality...and powwows, apparently.

Which religion/spirituality is right? All of them AND none of them. There is only one truth and noone on earth knows it.

I'm sure we'll all be surprised when we cross over. And then it won't matter one iota....only how we loved and treated our fellow humans while given the chance.

                              PEACE!
                              ...it is what it is...

As the end of the 2007 powwow season approaches, we can look back at a year in powwows.

One observation that I have noticed is the general decline in attendance this year. This is from my personal observation and from my family and friends who have also noticed a decline in attendance...
