Wow, what started as a totally loaded question actually turned into something worth reading. This was a lot of fun, thanks guys!
(I would add my own two cents, but I just got home from work and did some more work-like things when I got home, so I'm all burnt out)

I tried the white churches and I do beleive in the Bible. It is just that the white churches have gotten to complicated and cost way to much do anything in it.What happen to just going to listen to the gospel and praying.I go to my Creek ceremonies and that is like our Native Church. We also have a white kind of version of church but we sing Native Gospel songs in white and Native tongue. We also shake ratttles and other insturments to.I like to go when I go to see my mom and relatives there.

As a Native Child I was raised in a white home
I was Baptized even before they were given permission to adopt me.
My adoptive mother was a church organist and choir director so I spent many hours in the church.
I attended a luthern school for jr high years and then I was sent to a southern baptist school for high school. I had to sit and listen to many pastors and self proclaimed christians telling me that no matter what I could never be saved or I would obviously go to hell because of how I was born and what I was.
throughout the years my mother worked at many differn't denominational churches and as I grew I learned that the basic belief was really the same but many are exclusive about who they believe could enter the kingdom of heven after death.
but as usual I was never included in those groups of saved people. because I was indian my mother put me in caticisum classes but when I was through I was not allowed to join the church with the rest of the kids in my class.
My mother said that becasue of my race it would be best for me to choose to do this at a later date and time in my life as an adult.
I didn't understand I always questioned this I grew up feeling never quite good enough for those church people. many people in my life made it clear that I should be greatfull that this family would allow me into thier home. blah blah blah,
I do not attend church regularly these days,
But I do believe in a creator somthing so much more speactacular than us on earth that created us and all life.
I believe that we have a purpose and that there are reasons we have to go through situations that we go through. good and bad
I don't know why but I do know from experience that life situations have made me who I am today. I look forward to each new day no matter what I am facing I try to be the best I can whenever possible.
for me attending powwows is very spiritual, and special
because I and learning when I go and experiencing the energy generated at these powwows it is a great feeling I have troulbe describing.

there is a song out there by a band called (XTC) the song is called (Dear God) it is from an album called skylarking circa 1986 ( you can find it on all music.com or myspace click on music and type in XTC and you can listen to this song
or just go here and it should start playing

    MySpace URL:

it questions a person having trouble believing because of all that goes on in the world.
it is very moving in this matter
and it really brings to the surface why some people have trouble in dealing with the church religion Etc.

anyway nomtter how you feel all of you have a great holiday and may you and your familes enjoy every moment of this season.

I have a lot of friends that believe in the bible and in Jesus, and that's cool for whatever works for them.

But as for myself...... I believe in our way of praying here to Creator and I strive to teach my grandchildren and family and stay with our traditional teachings.

Sometimes theres a really good powwow that I want to go to but I can't because I have to participate in a traditional gathering or ceremony, so I always choose our culture over powwows any day. Powows are fun and nice to see friends and family but its just a social event and there are more important things in life. *gasp*
