Wouldn't worry about it dude. And ther are so many guys who are 23 going on 13. Its a hormone thing and they act childish and immature to cover up insecurities. Anyway that's my 2 cents.
Absolutely! She should focus on us 40+ guys.Something exists.

I agree with TKMJ Productions, 2 spirit people have always been a part of Native Culture and where I grew up considered wise since they could relate to both sexes. Sounds like this Hawaiian guy has some problems with himself that he needs to address.Courage is just fear that has said it's prayers.

You need to realize that whatever you choose in your life, be it your career, your taste in art or food, there will be some who belittle it or will be very critical of it. They don't matter in the long run. Jerks like that pineapple guy are a dime a dozen. As long as you are happy with your partner and vice versa that's really all that counts. I used to let idiots like that really bug me, but before I let them annoy the **** out of me now, I ask myself if it's going to matter 5 years from now or even this time next year. The answer I get is always no. You are young and now is the time to stop stressing over unimportant people's opinions!!Take nothing for granted. Life can change irrevocably in a heartbeat.
I will not feed the troll-well, I will try.

Wasn't there a thread similar to this awhile back?
I always say that I can only speak for what I know of my own tribe. I wouldn't presume to say "The Native Thing to do is...", knowing how vastly different beliefs are between the tribes. Saying that, I can tell you that in our tribe, our Winkte were identified more by their actions among the people, rather than what they did in the privacy of their homes. A winkte was a person who behaved in way that was more common to the opposite sex. The men were very proficient in cooking and cleaning what was brought by the hunters; were usually superb painters, beaders and quillworkers. Other men (hetero) were not afraid of these men (homophobic), and in fact, would tease them as they would each other. A man who wanted his own children to have special blessings would even ask a winkte to give their child a name, and would give them lots of gifts for the honor.
The women would be, of course, more masculine in what they did. They were excellent horsewomen, hunters and would even sneak off to fight in wars. They were not the kind of woman to sit at home and do the "women's work".
Since marriage was a private affair after the actual marriage was made, what happened between a man and woman was in no way shape or form anyone elses business. People just didn't presume to make it their business either, so if a winkte took a lover, or a partner, who knew? Honestly, who cared??
I think this homophobia that is so rampant in American came straight from Europe and their "high moral codes" (excuse me while I choke back laughter). For some reason, the wasicus came over here to pursue "freedom", but they wanted to make sure they kept strict rules and judgements on that freedom. Hmmm....no matter which way you look at it, its wrong.
Ican't image what hold this Hawaiian guy has over you with his judgements, or what kind of expert he claims to be on Native American cultures, or even homosexuality, but you should really take a good look at why you were so bothered by what he had to say to you. Hopefully, you can see yourself as a whole person instead of just your sexuality, and fall and love and (Hopefully) marry and have a great life. In the end, it's what you and your partner feel, your honesty, your respect and your bravery that matters the most!! Best of Luck!!Ipsica Waci
