Export your address book to a disk. Copy down the settings for your incoming and outgoing mail servers, password, etc.

As for saved e-mails your will probrably lose those unless your using a third party back-up program.

Question though, why re-install XP. Are you sure you've successfully removed the virus and spyware.
HAve you run "disk clean-up" and defragmented your drive.
Do those before something as extreme as a re-install.
Check the memory, do you have excessive amounts of software running. You can p.m. if you wish.

Dell's have a great 'restore' feature. You can restore back to a date before you got the virus. I did this after I got spyware that was slowing this computer down.

Maybe it's standard in XP. Look in Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore. It will sae you a lot of headache.

At work we move user's email all the time. It doesn't work well with Outlook express though. If someone has Outlook express, we set them up an account in regular Outlook and bring in all their Outlook Express settings, messages and address book, which goes automatically.

Then go looking for your .pst file. Set your folder options to show hidden files. Then look in C: - Documents and settings - your user account - Local settings - Application data - Microsoft - Outlook folder. Save the .pst file.

After you reinstall XP, open up Outlook and set up your account to create a .pst file. BUT THEN, follow that path above again and replace that .pst file with the one you saved. Tuh - duh!!!

      Good luck!

or you could use the F8 button on start up .. it will bring up a page that will give you the option to take the computer back to the last time it worked properly .. and you're good to go!!

used it a couple of times .. a computer nerd geek told me about it.

but be really really careful now .. dont open ANY emails from anyone you dont know - dont open anything in your junk email box. even emails that kind of look like its from your best friend but jus doesnt look right .. dont open it!!

do not click on any of the ads on the sides, tops or bottoms of webpages (get a free screensaver!! free emoticons) .. they load on adware/spyware onto your computer slowin it down ALOT. most people think they have a virus but its really jus adware/spyware. get a spyware/adware blockin program on your computer ASAP.
