Could be worse - you could have to fly today! I saw on the news that lots of flights are delayed or cancelled because of the snow.

Check with a travel agent. Mine always finds me lower rates than the internet.

Or look for that one website- last minute travel or something like that.

You could take the amtrak too on your trip goto http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conten...mtrak/HomePage. The train take you from Detroit to san diego. Check them out. traveling by train is fun.

You're right bout that Wala...... Its usually double the rates of a airline ticket and that's not even in sleeper cars. The only time I recommend trains are on commuter ones on the east or west coasts, or midland but to/from shorter distances. Not cross country, I would only recommend cross country trains if you plan to stop 3-4 times and have at least a week to travel.

But a good one is the Seattle/Portland train and the ones out of New York to the many closer destinations. The New York Chicago train is also a nice one. Including the ones in Cali, the Northern Cali circuit is beautiful through the vineyards, etc. Then just the San Diego - LA train is sometimes faster than driving because of all the traffic on I-5........
