Glad to hear it girl! Best wishes and good luck!! We had a "semi-native" wedding (At native church and in native gear and a feast after) It was fun, but the bad thing was that our family wanted us to open our presents AFTER the wedding, and we still had to go out of town for our honeymoon.....so by the time we got to our hotel....we went out to eat, came back to the hotel room w/all kinds of stuff to make mixed drinks, etc....

and crashed the heck out before we had finished our first drink *L* It was fun though. It seems like it'll never get there, and then you have your wedding day and it FLYS by.

Mussy by birth.....Native by the Grace of God.......

When my husband and I first became engaged I was really nervous. I went to every wedding planner and hallmark store trying to figure out what would be perfect for our wedding. We choose the month of May for our wedding. I would write down the grand total price of everything that I wanted. By the time all total were added and rounded up, the wedding would have costed a total of $189,015.00. More then what my car is worth. So I let myself fall and we went to the court house and married there. It just cost $15.00. I was more happy with that.

15 dollars? wow thats cheap. I think its more expensive than that in Oklahoma.

        I want to have a pow-wow wedding.
But I'm not sure what that entails.

Anyone have any input or ideas on how to have a pow-wow wedding? :)

I read in the new paper some time ago, this one couple had a pow wow wedding. They exchanged vowes in their native language, tribal elder said a few words and prayed, had their meal, not to sure if they opened gifts, and the last part of their wedding was a full traditional pow wow.

If you google bridal you will find links that even have a check list to go by to arrange everything for the wedding. Plus Bed Bath and Beyond has a great gift registry, as does Home Depot. Some of the couples around our area list a bank and account number on the gift registry card so people can give money to go toward making a down payment on a house or a house payment for the newlyweds.
Our youngest is now engaged and has set her wedding date for Dec. So far we have the cater, she's chosen the dress, but the church she wants to get married in because it is the oldest in our area and built of stone is iffy because their church by-laws were changed 3 years ago and they don't want people who aren't members to marry in their church. At the moment we are offering them 500 dollars to use their "old stone chapel" ( not the big new modern church they have built and now use.) plus we have also offered to pay for a cleaning crew to come in and clean up afterwards. Now the church's deacons and pastor has to decide.I'm so glad this is our last child to marry!
Courage is just fear that has said it's prayers.

Nothing wrong with that! We did that and then on our 10th Anniversary, we got married in a church. It was nice and simple though. Had a carrott cake!

That is so sweet. I wanted to have traditional church wedding this May, but I love to spend money, and my tab might go sky high again. I dont know how to plan small.
