I voted for "I dont think i'll be doing much traveling except to local powwows".

I don't drive much around 'cause of gas price still too high for long time.... I'm poor but I'm saving money then i'll spent on gas and then trip to local Pow Wows, Ceremony meetings (sometimes a year) and Stomp Grounds (for Cherokee Stomp Dancers) - every end of the Months from Spring to Oct.

I have another option that should be up there...."I spent all my money at the center bar and will be couching it the rest of the year."

lol No, luckily about all I do have to spend money is the traveling part. The boyfriend usually gets his room for free. I'm riding with others to Gatherings and I found a plane ticket for Stanford for about $200. That's probably the most I'll spend.

We save all year to go to the pw in Balto - we can get to that pw on mass transit but the 4.5 hours each way is brutal if you want to make all three days (and we do). Renting a van to tote the chairs and driving the 45 minute drive from the house costs more than the cost of staying 4 nights in Balto - so we aren't spending money on gas - we're going to spend it on room and food.

National isn't until next year. GMU and College Park are easily done on mass transit. Hopefully this is the year we figure out how to get to Howard County on mass transit for at least one of the pw days (also hope it's not too blazing hot!)

It's ironic, that I spent about 3 years working on my outfits, and now have 3 of them ready, and price of gas is high(3.47 this morning in Seattle, and one place I saw was 3.51), so here I sit at home all dressed up and no where to go. Maybe I will throw a CD on, move the couch, and go at it. Hope I don't get dizzy as that circle is going to be awful short, and it may look like I am just spinning around on one foot. Ayeeeeeee....................

If rising gas prices are to continue, do you think pow-wows will up their prize money?

Wow, even a can of spam and a loaf of bread will go up. Sheesh!

I usually see powwows in WA state, where I am from, but not residing in at this time. I fly home once every 2-3 years. So got another year or two then I will go home and see a powwow. Money is no object too me of course. muhaha...

The one pow wow that I'm going to be going to for sure no matter what will be the 4th of July pow wow in Cherokee. It's alot in gas, but I usually spend a week there visiting, so it's worth it to me. I'd really like to go to the one memorial day weekend there too since I haven't been to that one in about 6 years, but I don't know with the gas prices if I can do that one or not. Other then that--it's all up to what the price of gas is on wether or not I go and where.

Nice thing about living here, a pow wow isn't too far away! (sometimes only 20 mins) So you can't really use the gas excuse in Oklahoma. *L* At least if you REALLY want to go to a pow wow.
