The hubby and I filed as soon as we received our W-2's, but other credits came in, and now we gotta amend it. Luckily we have plenty of time to amend.

I just filed my parents' today. I was just too busy to file sooner.

I went to H & R and they wanted to charge me $250 to prepare my return, and thats only because ontop of my W-2's I had been 1099'd by the production company I work for as well as my independent contract work, grrr. I went to Staples and bought the Taxcut software and only paid like $40, and got back a pretty nice refund. Though until my friend had brought it up earlier I had forgot to mail in my city and state taxes, thankfully I got to the post office just in time.

ATTENTION: To all non-Indians - Natives do pay taxes! LOL!
Oh geez, don't I know it! Some people just don't get it. They think native individuals are exempt from paying taxes, and when I've tried to explain that we do pay taxes, some people tend to disbelieve anyway.

In Texas, we don't have to file for state taxes.

With all the 1099s and itemized deductions I do, I had to pay $450.00 for my preparation fees, but I do get a chunk of change back from the Federal and the State. It pays to have mortgage interest and track all business-related expenses as well as health/dental/vision expenses in order.

I got my W2s on 1/31, my wife's income is -all- contract. We have lots of medical expenses, so I keep track of those as they come in as well as file and pay quarterlies (because of the contract work). I filed our taxes on 2/1. We got our refund quickly and I definitely have been stimulating the economy!!

I also do our live-in PCA's taxes and did those a couple of weeks later. My unemployed nephew and his very pregnant wife showed up at our door step, refuges from the economic troubles in Michigan. I did my nephew's estimated and filed for an extension, as he was a little pre-occupied on tax day. My grand nephew was born on April 15th *grin*

I've used Turbo-Tax since the early 90's. Turbo-tax is online and this makes it very easy to do the returns, since the software will transfer information from the prior year. Prior year taxes are available as downloadable pdf files. My bank gives me a 15% discount on the cost of using Turbo-Tax so it's all good.

Today my wife and I got a serious wake-up call. We have a wood burning pellet stove in the house we bought a year ago. Well sometime within the past week or so apparently the stove started to malfuntction. Unfortunately for us we did not have carbon monoxide detectors in our house, just smoke detectors....

Today I went to MEPS to begin my processing into the Navy Reserves. Since I had already taken the ASVAB, I just needed the actual medical exam.

From what I understand the full MEPS program is about two days where the ASVAB is given one day. The next day consists of not only the physical,...

We have the standard 6 ft. fence in the backyard, and a few months ago, I heard about burglaries increasing dramatically in the entire city. To make sure this never happened to me, I got an electric fence and ran a single wire along the top of the fence.

Actually, I got the biggest cattle...
