Earth Day is here,Idon't know how long,but I'm tinking green powwows. I don't know what your ideas would be for a green powwow,but for example regalia made of recyclable material or even biodegradeable.

fabrics, aminals skins/Furs think they all are biodegradable arn't they? One powwow we go to has feast bags. Bags with cup, plate, bowl and utensils. Use it all weekend, wash it up a the washing station, no disposable cups, plattes etc. Tjat's pretty green when you consider all the eating involved, so to have a whole powwow where even the spectators got washable dishes, it's a big load of garbage diverted.

Fabrics are only biodegradable if they are made from natural materials, but rayon and nylon are synthetic polymers, which means they don't really break down just get torn into pieces in a land fill.

To make powwows greener I'd say to switch out traditional plasticware for that new stuff thats made from corn that degrades in like 100 days. Use solar power to pwer the audio equipment and LEDs and CFLs for lighting (mainly at night for the 49ers).

I'm thinking generators for the sound & lights that use compressed air that automatically keep their air tanks continuously pressurized.
