Sounds to me like you may have a virus or corrupt file in Windows. The easiest way is to first run a virus scan, and spyware scan (AVG is a free anti-virus and Malwarebytes is a great free anti-spyware program). If the problem still happens then reboot your computer and start it in safe mode (usually by tapping the F8 key repeatedly while your system logo is still displayed , or till just shortly after it disappears.) While in safemode try to first access the folders to see if you can, if you still can't run the anti-virus and anti-spyware programs again while still in safe mode.
Finally you can run a system restore by going to:
START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > SYSTEM TOOLS > "SYSTEM RESTORE"
In system restore roll your machine back to a few days before the problem happened. System restore does not erase your documents, however it will run uninstall or reinstall operations on programs that you have done between the time you started the system restore and the day you chose to go back to. System restore is fully undoable if it screws something up, just go back into it and select the option to undo the last system restore (only available for a short time after you do it).

Have you run a virus scan? If a virus scan doesn't solve the problem try starting Windows in safe mode. (You might have to google on how to start Windows ME in safe mode. I don't remember off the top of my head). If you can successfully access the folder in safe mode back up all your important files while you figure out the problem in the mean time.

Need help with Windows Explorer. When I try to access an image folder of mine in both C & D drives WE closes on me & then restarts. I have several important images in these folders I don't want to lose. I'm trying to fix these folders &
