If you only have 1/2 inch of your cervix left, I am thinking it should be soon. I know I hated my mucus plug when it came out. Grossed me out major. It reminded me of rubber cement.
Anyways, once I lost my mucus plug, I started having contractions, they were irregular, but I had them, they were the real thing.
Hang in there. I know how horrible it is. I know you say you want the baby out, but once they are out, it is kinda hard because you realize that you are by yourself, no little one anymore. I hated taking the first shower by myself. :( no baby playin with me.
I didn't do it, honestly. I have burned all the proof.

Ladies, I got a question to ask.... and I need some serious feedback up on this issue......... here is a response from one of my college professors regarding me bringing baby to class (only18 days left of semester) and her.... well I'll let you make your own judgements.....

          Hello Jeannie,

I received your email yesterday afternoon blah blah blah....

Your next issue concerns classes you will miss immediately following the birth of your baby. I will excuse you from these classes, but you are responsible for the readings and the information we cover in class.

Your last issue concerns bringing your baby to class and breastfeeding. I have consulted with a variety of experts concerning your request, and I have been informed that I need to determine if I think the presence of the baby in the classroom will be disruptive to the educational process. I do, indeed, feel that a baby's presence will disrupt the class. Therefore, you need to make plans for childcare while you are in class. In an emergency, I will allow you to bring the baby to class; this will be on an extremely limited basis, two times maximum. However, the following conditions must be met: 1. if the baby starts to cry, you must remove him/her immediately; 2. if the baby is hungry, you must leave the classroom to feed him/her; 3. if class members are disturbed by the baby's presence, you must remove the baby from the room; 4. if I determine that the baby's presence is having a negative effect on the class, you must remove the baby from the room.

I have discussed your situation with Mr. XXXX, Dean of Students. He suggested that you go to Rothwell Student Center to see him at his office; he can offer you help. He also suggested that you contact Health Services and University Day Care to discuss your options.

I wish you the best with your baby.

          Dr. XXX

              It's a female professor.

In all honesty, I agree with what the prof is saying. I know that if I was paying tons of money to go to school, the last thing I would want is a crying baby in the class. And for you, it will be incredibly difficult for you to concentrate with your lil one there.

There should be other avenues for you to take.

Wow. I tried to go to school when I was PG but not even, I was too sick and too fatigued to even get out of bed. It sounds like you're going to a university? Because when my cousin had her baby, she took her daughter right into class with her. But mind you, this was at a small tribal college where everyone knew each other, I mean, everyone in there was other girls we grew up with. The professor was a man from our band that has a Ph.D so ya know, he did not mind at all. But I know if she was going to the university in town, there would have been no way she could have brought her new one in there. My cousins that did give birth mid-term, just ya know, had a babysitter. Do you have any one that could watch your baby for ya? Don't you have other kids? I understand about the breast feeding, do you take classes all day?

On the lighter side of things.... thank you ojibwesweetie for making me laugh!

No this was a female professor! My other three (male) professors were absolutely thrilled with the idea that I would bring my infant to class and that I had choosen to breastfeed instead of formula! Go figure ones Biology, Chemesty and the other is a History Teacher! I work in a library, where the environment demands silence, and my bosses won't let me take my child to daycare! (its a bunch of ol ladies and they can't wait to be grandmas all over again!)

There are approximately 18 days left of this semester and who knows when this baby will ever come out! Just because I go to a University doesn't make us "university students" any different than tribal colleges! Universitys just accomidate a bigger student body. Life is life, no matter what instuition of higher learning you attend! I looked up the laws about breastfeeding and spoke with a few people on campus and in the community, and it is discrimination to tell a woman she has to leave any public area because she is breastfeeding or intending to breastfeed her child! Thats what I was upset about!
I'm not a complete dolt to think I will keep a crying baby in class and have the learning process continue! But I have also payed good money to attend my classes and I'll be damned if I'll be discriminated against because I choose to breastfeed my child! I realize my professor puts a lot into her job everyday, but so do I! My gosh, babies eat, what? every 3-5 hours for the first 2 months? I have classes for 3 hours a day, 3 times a week! (thats all 4 of my classes). Realisticly all babies do at this age: eat and sleep! Colic tends to occur in the evening hours. I'm sure I can meet babies needs between classes. I have no intention of bringing baby to school next semester, but I'm not going to leave my baby anywhere for the first few weeks of his/her lil life! No way!
And it is impossible to find child care for any child under 6 weeks of age, and no state agency will fund a child for care under 6 weeks of age! My mother lives an hour & 1/2 away and she wants me to commute everyday for school! I think I'd go nuts with that long drive everyday and I don't think I could handle being away from baby everyday.
I'm still peeved.... can you tell? :reallymad

Would your Mom consider staying with you or coming to school with you to help you out for the remainder of your classes? Or do you have any sisters or anyone else that could help you like that? This seems like a complicated situation, but if you think on it long enough and keep praying for wisdom then the answer will come to you, might be simpler than you think.
I know in my situation, Im a grandma and my sister is a grandma, we both told our children that if they need helpwith their children so they can continue with school to let us help. We're both helping our children as they go to school, and sometimes we pass each other inthe daycare running after our grandchildren/babies. It's cool, wouldn't miss it for the world, course were both young grannies though! :) Many prayers for you and I hope you find answers soon. :Angel2

                        Just wanna say congradulations!!!

I once has a professor that refused to let me take his class cuz my due date was before the class would be over. If I lived close, I would be willing to help even though we don't know each other.
When you turn your back on me, don't expect me to care what you think!!

he he he..... chasing babies in daycare......! Sounds like fun! I was in a daycare today for bout 5 minutes! Aaaaahhh, they're so cute! And den there was...... okay nevermind....

Thank you nykari for your thoughtfulness!

My mother is young too, *prays she never sees this thread!* she is 40 and just had a lil one in April! There are still 4 of my younger brother and sisters still living at home (ages 15, 10, 5, & 7 mos!)! I know she would lubb to be up here all the time to help me out, but I really can't ask her to! She has many more responsibilites to attend to and I would never ask her to focus on me.... my issues are minor in comparison to a day at her house!

Hoolay! LOL. I can understand why you are P.O'd. I didnt mean to tick you off I just was stating my experience. I've attended two universities, one in Michigan and presently Arizona State. I have yet to see a baby brought to class. That's all I'm saying about that one. The Tribal college was way more relaxed, ya know, it was all relatives that didn't care. I know we spend alot of cash for tuition but, thinking back on my classes, I seem to have been in alot of classes where everyone was either serious or very opinionated, I know I would've been chased outta those classes had I brought my baby with me. My cousin is set to give birth any day now too, she's going to class still but she's got her babysitter all lined up. I can understand your situation where you're so far away from your mother. That is cool too your other professors welcome the idea. See I never even attempted that so I wouldn't know how open university professors really are.
