The majority of employees here are Asian I'd say 75%. I'm the only Indian here but what are your ratios? Living in the city we have diversity but the work place seems to distinguish who has the upperhand in degrees or specific career training. If you work on a reservation or in the city what is the ratio like?

I work on a rez and it's about 80% native 20% non native :Mad . I get upset with my tribe cuz it seems like they hire too many non natives, but I also know that our people need to get out there and pursue their education so they can advance and take over all the jobs. :(

Not sure of numbers, but when I worked at IHCSCV (Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley), I'd put Native employees at at least 50%....at least ;). With such a large population of WIC participants at the time, and probably still, IHC had a large Spanish speaking clientel, so there were many Mexican-American employees...That was years ago already, so I can't tell you how it is now.... :)."Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those doing it."

I work for a large Sheriffs' Dept. they are always saying how they are trying to be so diverse, I think that we have only a little over 1% native in the dept, we have about 1500 sworn officers and approximately 500-600 non sworn employees, we mainly have white males, and we seem to be getting less women as well, not sure why

I'm the one and only. Actually I think my race influenced the way they hired me. Although I came from another facility to where I am now they never checked my referrences. They were desperate to get a Native on board due to several Native inmates at that time. The prison system usually tries to have it's staff reflect the inmate population as far as race is concerned.
And who said Affirmative Action is dead? :Chatter"I know that you’ve been damaged, your soul has suffered such abuse, but I am not your savior, I am just as screwed as you."
