Well, we're having our first really bad spring storm front coming in. The weather forecasters are having a field day. They haven't been able to preempt all programing since the ice storm. They've already had a tornado confirmed on the ground in Sulfur Springs. And that was from the stuff far ahead of the front.

The big storm is ripping in to town at about 60 mph. The winds are wild. It's trash day and most peoples' bins are out. The street is full of blown over trash and recycling bins. They're expecting the storm edge in the downtown area here in about 50 mins. It does look like the hail core that was pounding Mineral Wells is going to go north of downtown. They've had 70 mph wind gusts out in Mineral Wells. Pray for our power lines.

I pray for the power lines but at 60 to 70 mph storm I pray for the people too. When the power lines are in danger tnah the people too. That is about 95 to 115 km/h. Roof tiles may fly.

Well, I have shingles and tar paper on the ground. Looks like I lost a section of my roofing. I'm waiting for my insurance agent's office to open. I've got a call into a roofer, to get someone on the roof to find out if I need to tarp until they can get to it.

They measured 80 mph gusts in downtown. Things are pretty torn up. Roofs off a bunch of businesses and homes. A big Amazon warehouse east of town lost its roof. Trees and fences down. Power is out in a bunch of places.

I am glad, you are not hurt and sorry for your roof. I hope you get it done fast and reliable.
Better send some more prayers.

Ishtato hid about the time radar showed the gust front crossing the Parker county line. She came out around 11 am the next day. When the tornado sirens went off she started screaming. Olivia didn't hide until the shingles slammed into my car in the driveway. She came out after the worst of the storm passed.

Olivia hates roofers. She seems to feel a need to inspect their work. After they finished putting the tarp on the roof, I caught her high up in the kitchen cabinets sniffing around the ceiling.


I'm still waiting on estimates for repairing the damage. Since I didn't lose any decking, I'm down low on the list. There's lots of folks in area that lost much more of their roof.

Oncor has been scrambling. There are now <6000 customers without power in the metroplex; down from around a quarter of million at the peak. They have the mutual aid teams in. This morning, I saw a cherry picker from one of the Louisiana power companies drive down the street.

Sigh, sounds familiar with the waiting list if there are others with more damages and there isn't much you can do.
I cross fingers that the list is quickly worked off.

Shreveport may be keeping their crews home. They got hit by the same storm. My friend in Shreveport told me they had wind damage. She was on her generator for nearly the whole night after the storm.

OLC, glad you came through the storm relatively ok. We are finally done with nearly record heat-at least for a couple of weeks. Day before yesterday, we broke a record of 86 when it hit 89. We will be lucky to hit 60 today.

I'm having issues with internet speed. I'm glad to have some internet, but as my son explained when we got it, it's slow and it's really hard to get the forum to load. Plus, being on the internet makes the TV lag. I finally succeeded in logging in today and this was the 4th day of trying. Oh well. Weird, I can still log onto FB and it seems like it would have more to load and be slower.

WD, Happy Belated Birthday!! I hope it was a good day.

BA, when you see blizzards and stuff passing through the northern states, you can know that OLC is going to get rain, and maybe wind and storms, then a couple of days later, we get it. We always get the tail end of the northern cold fronts. OLC usually gets the worst of it. At least we rarely have to shovel snow.

Today is shaping up to be a repeat of Thursday 2 weeks ago. I still have a tarp on my roof. Pray for low winds and small hail. I'm getting tired of spring time in Texas.

Well, it's Thursday and storm time. The overnight is shaping up to be a repeat of last week.

Last week, the golf ball to egg sized hail finished my roof off. The first Thursday of the month, we had 80 mph wind gusts and tornados. The second Thursday was flash floods and tornados. The third Thursday was large hail and tornados. Tonight, I betting on seas of blood and tornados, lol.

I made it back. LOL! I think I got the new Kindle set up. I'm now down to dealing with something when I run across it. Still dealing with slow internet, which has made me head back to the library a couple of times. I finally got tired of waiting on 1600+ books to load one at a time, so I hit the library up and got them done in about 15 minutes. LOL! Princess Diva seems under the weather. I'll do what I can for her since taking her to the vet is impossible. Her feral side really comes out. I tried once to put her in a carrier and never again. I'm just glad I tried it before I started taking blood thinners. LOL! I'll carry scars until I meet the Creator. We are back to Spring/Summer temps.. I swear that if people still don't believe in global warming, they need to come live down the road from me.

We've not been bad as far as weather goes. It seems to break down before it gets here. I don't know if it has to do with the 4 rivers that are around here, ot the fact that the fronts meet the sea breeze just about over us. We're 10 miles inland, have a a river 12 miles south of us, 10 miles south, about 1/2 mile north, and about 12 miles north. Sometimes it pulls the bad weather towards us, but mostly it breaks around us. Last night it broke north, but we could heat the thunder and got a little bit of rain.

We are going back to the satellite dish. The tech should be here in a couple of days to reinstall it. Once that's done, we won't have to rely on streaming for everything, and the wifi won't have to be doing double duty. I expect it to get a little bit faster since it won't be doing double duty-tablet and TV.

I think we have something lurking around the woods. Princess Diva is normally back to sleeping on the back porch by now. If it gets over 50, she's been outside in the past. She has little interest in being out after dark. Many years ago, we had a Florida panther around. We noticed the terrier mix we had at the time, stopped going out at night unless a grownup went with him, and even then, he wouldn't go outside the circle of light the porch light provided. After about 3 weeks, we started noticing other signs, like giant cat prints in the sand of the driveway, then one morning, I saw her going through the side yard. She was beautiful. I knew the lady who headed up Animal Control, and she came out and made some plaster casts of the paw prints. She called me a few weeks later and told me that Florida Wildlife came and got her. She had a radio collar on because she was part of a release program from down in the Ocala National Forest. Apparently a couple of those released cats had even found there way up to Atlanta and the N. Georgia mountains. It was neat having that cat around, but also kind of scary at the same time. It could be something like that with the Princess, or it could just be overflow from the 30 or 40 cats the people up the road have. Princess Diva is probably close to 10, so she doesn't have the energy to run the strays out of the yard.
