  • Everybody have a good Easter? It was cloudy, drizzly and windy here. We went from near record heat again on Friday, around 86, to barely making it to 60 the last 2 days.

Not much new here. Got satellite TV back, but the internet is still tortoise slow. Had to call the TV people twice after the install because we didn't have the programming we were supposed to have. I dislike having to deal with customer service people. I have such a hard time understanding them.

The cat is in a snot over the weather. Sits by the door crying like she wants to go out, but when somebody opens the door for her, and she hears the rain, she retreats to whereever her current napping spot is.

Subs, I hate customer service phone gulags too. If you can hear and understand, you know you're talking to a computer. If you do get to a real person, they have script and no ability for independent thought.

One time I spent 5 mins explaining to a woman in India that only one of the three frozen meals I ordered was open and I only needed a refund for one meal. She couldn't understand and kept telling me she'd refund all three damaged meals. I could never figure out if she was trapped by a dumb programmer trick that let her only refund an entire line item or if she really didn't understand.

We're in one of our brief periods when the outdoors is usable -- provided you can breath pollen rather than air. Upper 50's to low 60's at sunrise and mid 80's by afternoon. No heat or AC needed. Lovely -- except for the tornados and hail, lol.

        • Finally able to post. I would log in and there was no way to leave a reply. Glad that's fixed because as soon as I logged in, I saw a newbie advertising cdb gummies. Banned and deleted.

I have gotten hooked on creating AI art. A friend of mine posted some of her work for a challenge online, along with a link to the site. I went, I played around and I was hooked. That was about a week ago. It's free, and you can earn credits for doing different things, and there's also a paid version. You get more credits and no ads with the paid version, but I can do enough to keep myself in free credits. I scared myself with it. I created some vintage glass perfume bottles, and they were so real, they were kinda scary. Think I'll stick with naturescapes and fantasy stuff, It's based in Australia and has a very global set of people.

Had a scare with the car and thought we were going to have to replace the master brake cylinder. Took it to a local place and all that needed doing was to have the brakes bled. Turned out that the last time work was done on the car, they didn't bleed the brakes. They did tell us we would be needing the cylinder in several month. It was one of those chain places. The local guys weren't impressed with the paperwork. I'm glad we found someone close to home and is a small business not a chain.

Hi Subs, show up early in the morning and you can delete a dozen or so gummy products, lol. I'm glad your car is OK. Brake problems are scary.

AI art interesting. I'm not familiar with it. Guess I've had my head under a rock again, lol. Can you post any examples?

            • Well, I was a big green meanie again today. I had to respond to the undergrad who posted a request for interviewees for their term paper. It's mid April, they're running late if that paper is for this semester.

              • Goyo, could I please have a carne seca chimichanga and a guacamole salad.

Well, it looks like we're dodging a bullet tonight. We were supposed to be dead center in large hail, high winds and tornadoes. But it appears that the rain the fell most of the day drew enough energy out of the atmosphere to move the bad stuff south into less populated areas. They had baseball sized hail in Dublin, TX.

                • Goyo, something calming please.

We're under the gun this afternoon. Large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. The tornado risk is supposed to be highest for the areas to the south.

This has the potential to be the fifth significant hail event for my poor roof this spring. At least, I haven't put the new one on yet.

                  • Than tee might be helpful and prayers to calm down.

May the hail bypass you or better don't fall anywhere.

                    • ,OLC, hope you weathered the storms ok. We had some wild weather Thursday night. Lots of rain, and we've had rain off and on since then. It's over now for the next week or so, put we got enough to kind of ease the drought for now. When we were at the shop getting the brakes looked at, one of the mechanics mentioned a creek that had really good fishing. He said it was on the wildlife refuge and gave us directions. Turns out that it was within a mile of us. They took a lot of land that had been owned by the Sea Island Co. (part rich hunting resort and part timberlands) and turned it into the Ceylon Wildlife Refuge.( We stayed clear of the area because the road that was "original" to us, went by some people who were a little creepy. When we first moved uot here, the old man down the road mentioned that they ran the road grader guy off with shotguns, so we decided to not just go there. LOL!) We've been down there twice, and never could find the creek he was talking about, but it's amazing back there. At one point, it was a settlement that was based on harvesting all the pines there, both before and after the Civil War. There's an old cemetary there that goes back over 150 years.I recognized a lot of family names from the area. Last time we were down there, a bobcat crossed the road ahead of us. It was too quick for me to get a photo.

OLC, when I get on my tablet, I'll see if I can post some of the AI art I've done. I have mixed thoughts about it. It's art, but you put in the words for the program to create. Sometimes though, the AI has it own interpretation of what something is, so it's hit and miss, but sometimes the misses are better than what you wanted in the first place. LOL!

OLC, you asked for it. LOL! It's called NightCafe AI Art. All of this is done with words/prompts. The gray kitten is the first one I did using the prompts, "gray kitten, blue eyes, sitting in a field of flowers." I forget exactly what I used for the second one besides "sunflowers and stained glass". The third one is the bottles I did that spooked me because they looked so real. There's so much variation, I'm going to do two more posts.

                        • AI sometimes does what it pleases. In the first one, I used the prompts, "glass orb with a brown and white pony inside". It gave me an orb within an orb. The second is "bronze filigree cat" and I forget the rest. The last is a group of some prompts using embroidery terms and include "3D and embossed." One more post.

                          • The red glass balls were created by another artist. Some people are generous about sharing prompts, and he is one of those. Some prompts can be really complicated. The prompts for those are" highly elaborate carving of a filigree ball made from transparent polished light Ruby Glass, refractive index 1.554 ": :" hyper-detailed, Macro Shot, 8k resolution, octane render, volumetric lighting, sharp focus, extremely detailed and intricate photography." I modified the prompts to make lace balls, and dropped a lot of the others he used. The lace prompts are "Brussels lace ball_all white_hyper-detailed_sharp focus_very detailed and intricate photography_very bright lighting" .In one of the Brussels lace ones I did, it also gave me a background of the city of Brussels The last 4 of the cats, I was trying to get a calico, so I could do something of Princess Diva. AI doesn't know what a calico cat is. LOL! In the grids of 4 photos, they are all done at the same time, using the exact prompts. You never get the same thing twice. They also cost a credit. There are several styles and algorithms to select from. Some use credits, other are free, but each one gives a different result. For me, it's fun. I've never been artistic when it comes to drawing and painting, and this gives me a chance to be. The site is based in Australia, but it's literally a global site. There are people from all over the world there-and it's all about the art aspect. Zero politics. Edited to add: There is an advance Prompt editor which is where all those detailed propmpts come from. You can also add an artists name, and the results will produce in that style.
