  • Stick indians?

Who knows about these people? They are well known on our rez, all sorts of stories about little people playing in the forest and kidnapping dogs and cats. A couple of kids get kidnapped and kept for like a week and then found on some trail speaking in tongues, and wondering around. These kids that get kidnapped are found like ten miles from the rez, they are well nourished and seem to be healthy, they just speak in tongues and look like they have been daydreaming the whole time.

There is a story about Carlos a mexican guy that was visiting the rez and left at night, his car broke down on his way to another little town and he got out to see what was wrong and when he got out he was hit with sticks waist down, it was so dark that he couldn't see what was hitting him so he ran back and got in his car.

These people make noises in the forest to draw you in and take you! some make a noise like a baby crying and draw you into the forest for your death, I heard stories of these people they are a tribe of indians that are about three feet tall and they can be nice and they can be evil. I don't know much about them but I know the stories I heard. When me and my cousin were real little like you know about five and seven I visited the rez in the summer time, we always played hide and seek at night, there would always be noises going on, like the crickets the frogs and all the rez dogs, cars and generators, but there were other noises like people following us snaps of sticks and whistles.

        isn't it though

yeah there are bunches of them all over the northwest, there are a couple of tribes I had talked to that know about them, they told us to leave out a cigarrett and some matches for them, you can leave them food and little trinkets and it keeps them happy and from bothering you. My aunties and uncles leave tobacco out for them all the time with some matches. it's a trip ain't it, they know when you talk about them outside like the trees listen for them. They can be as small as 3 inchs and as big as 3 feet! These people can be mistaken for wood fairys and wood nymphs but they hold some magic, From what my family tells me they can shrink you and do bad things. If they don't like you they will do their vodoo and make bad luck happen. I was wondering if anyone else heard of these people. A lot of Washington tribes know of these people and have their own stories. I don't question them. I believe it, lots of weird stuff happens in the forest. It is so big who are we to say.

            really

What kind of stories? I like to hear them just in case I come across these people, I wouldn't want to offend them ya know. They are very particular about who they let see them.

There was always stories on my rez too but I was always told that they were little witches. I don't really remember any particular stories but I remember people telling me about them. I never believed it too much because I always thought it was just stories to keep us out of the woods at night.
If you should suck my soul, I should lick your funky emotions. Nothing's good unless you play with it, play with me baby.

Did you just see what god did to us man?

Some of the woods around here are avoided. Locals tell you to stay out of them because the "little people" will lead you out into the forest and you'll get lost. The little people are not "good" or "bad" people, but sometimes just do mischief.

We are told of them, but are taught no to speak of them too much, as they may listen and visity you.
It is so sad that a family can torn apart by something as simple as a wild pack of dogs.

have heard stories from our elders of these people, have even witnessed some of the mischief they are capable of.
when i was younger,my brother who has passed on, was in a car accident that left him paralized and in a wheelchair the rest of his life, came home from University hospital in seattle, he would lie awake at night and listen to music or he would be up late playing cards we would hear them outside playing.
one time he left his cigarettes on the window sill and the next morning when he woke up they were gone, dang stick indians he would say.
they sounded like my nephews and neices when they played outside. sometimes the kids would find their wagon way out in the field or their toys in the tree.
sometime we would even hear our basketball being thrown around and bouncing off the wood shed or sometimes the back portch.
my mom & dad would tell us to not be scared of em or not to try and watch em either.
lots of people here on the colville rez know of many people that have been part of the mischief the stick indians can create, ask anyone here on the rez and they will tell you a story about one of their relatives or themselves that have had an experience with the stick indians.

I will probably be chastized for saying this, but to be honest, I have never heard of the stick indians, or the little people (at least not in the way they're mentioned here).

The little people Ive heard about are the mythological beings called fairies and gnomes and what not. But then again, that could be because of the way I was raised.

Okay, so, my question is: Why do a lot of gringos claim to be Native American? They tell everyone that they are and where it like a badge of honor. For those who don't know what gringos are, they're Caucasian people (pale white skin, some blonde, blue, green or hazel eyes).
