Ojibwe weddings consist solely of the reception. And tradition dictates that a disgruntled ex has to show up and ruin everything. The family drunks misbehave. A helluvalot of bytch slapping and breaking 40's on the sides of the bar is what usually happens.
The magic of the Ojibwe wedding lies in the ability to make the WWE look like Barney and Friends.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!! OMG...it never ceases to amaze me, the things these "hippy ndn's" come up with. I thought the peyote tea was very un-called for
Follow a Native American Church tradition of using drums containing peyote tea. (Peyote is a type of cactus known for its mind-altering properties.) The drums are played during the ceremony, following which guests drink the tea
PUHLEEZE!!!!!!! everybody knows that a real rez wedding involves tupperware, ex's crashing the reception, brother-in-laws getting into brawls, etc... LOL
yeah, yeah, yeah...
...never underestimate the power of stupid people in groups...
Did you check out the Home page on that site? There is a lot of stuff on native stereotypes. The site about the wedding won the stereotype of the month in december 01. They also comment on Pocahontas...her yearning to marry John Smith and be care free instead of a constricting marriage to Ko-ku-um (can never spell his name). So its all about stereotypes...but DANG!!!! some people kids
yeah, yeah, yeah...

Heeyaw, Becky!! We'll get a good Kiowa dressmaker to make you a nice brown leather dress at your Native American wedding if I don't beat you to it!! Would you like it with spaghetti straps?
I really love that site, it's very informative and I've found a lot of great articles, etc, linked from it.
I can't go there too often, however, I find it very depressing to read from politicians, columnists and just generally people who SHOULD know better - yet don't. How deeply ingrained is are the myths and stereotypes in the general population, it's defeating to see. People really ARE that dumb.
P.S. Asterix and Obelisk rules!
If'n you ain't the granddaddy of all liars. The little critters of nature they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny! A fly marrying a bumblebee. I told you I'd shoot! But you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?
