  • unusual outfits for dancing

we have had threads about great regalia. now what was the most unusual ones you have seen? was there someone who had colors that didn't go at all, or too much color?

let me get the bowl rolling. i saw two women this past year that stood out. one was an eastern blanket dancer that was not really in regalia. she had a sequin bowler hat and sequined top and a prarie skirt. she looked like she was heading to Mardi Gra in New Orleans.

the other women had a dress that was reminisant of Betty Rumble from the Flintstones.

the last we had that new ager (and I mean she was asked not to come back and she has'nt) red headed woman , she came dressed in a dress that was a fake buckskin that just came under her knees with jingle cones tied along the bottom, minetonka moccasins and dancing with a shawl in a combo jingle/fancy shawl manner. She wasnt even wearing the shawl correctly.. had it all spread out with all four sides of fringe in a different direction. After grand entry she took off the minetonkas and danced barefoot in her jingly ankle bracelets. :Mad

at GON a few years ago, there was a northern tradish or straight dancer (couldnt tell what the hell he was) he was wearing a hat with ALOT of pigeon feathers on his head! and when he danced, he would shake his head (or should i say "tailfeather") and the feathers who go flying all over the place....he made a big mess!

A couple times last year I saw a short dude out there with this honkin' huge, flat roundbustle that I kid you not is about five feet in diameter. Sticks up over his head and WAY out on both sides.

When I was at Kyiyo I saw a rather "unconventional" roach that looked like a bunch of spikes all over.

And yes, lots of girls with their glow-in-the-dark neons out there.

Which dance move was that? Did you notice that she always has this big azz smile on her face? Yeah man, that chick def put a dent in the world's fringe supply. I was like "Fringe on her moccosin/leggin combo boot thingy?!?!"

And how come I never see her at powwows if she travels doing dance shows? :Eyebrows

Still has to be the man who had a short buckskin skirt on with those minnetonka high boot/mocs and a matching halter top, with a sort of a shawl thing hanging over his arm. Top it all off he had his long hair half in a ponytail at the top of his head with those colourful feathers hanging from a roach clip. Damn!!

(my mamma pulled him out of the grand entry women's traditional dancer line)

the following poem began to form in my mind.
I was inspired by three women dancers.

A man comes into the ER and yells, "My wife's going to have her baby in the cab!" I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady's dress, and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly I noticed that there were several cabs - and I was in the wrong one.
