      Burb...
I did, well...me and cuz used to write letters back and forth as kids. Just to have that joy of getting mail.

In school, lil kid school...to practice our writing skills, our teachers had us find a penpal in another country...I think the kids were from Africa.

      That's my lil story! aye

I had a Navajo friend I met a long time ago and we corresponded via letters. Written letters. Exhanged pictures and made plans to visit each other's homes, but we've lost contact. She was so nice and beautiful to boot. Her name was Tina Tso. :D

I had this Israeli pen-pal by the name of Shimrith Prigan, she lived in Haifa Israel. If anyone knows her tell her to give me a call.:p Hehe.. nah really tho, she used to draw these bad azz pictures, she was really good, and we even talked on the phone once. Her dad was yelling, "it's America! it's America!". I do wonder what happened to her tho, if she's alive or if she was a victim of violence.

On the other hand, I had a Chinese pen-pal that lived on the Navajo rez by the name of Burbie. We wrote each other back and forth from the year 1993, lost contact for a few years and good ole e-mail brought two friends back together again.:Angel2 Then I moved to AZ and she dropped by on Thanksgiving Eve and we been best shopping buddies ever since then.:Chatter

Before internet there was actual reality...lol

I think one of the biggest advantages to chatting online is convenience. I have met a few online people and the good experiences far outweigh the bad ones. I can only put pen to paper with my prison relatives, and that is something I may make a resolution, writing to those who have a long ways or never to get out.

I also met another one of my other pen pals that i use to correspond with through letter writing and Kwe_Zee also knows him as well and he's a perty goot friend but I've known him since 92/93 and didn't meet him till about 2 years ago when he came to Arizona with some tribal members with the youth. Hmmm i also had others i corresponded with that I never met, but over the years I lost contact with them too.

Once upon a time, when I was in 7th grade.. I met this girl at a (Jin'jee) squaw dance... we became instant friends that weekend... and for years we wrote letters to each other. Ocassionally I would see her if I was visiting at my grandma's house for the summer.

THEN 7 years later..... I ended up marrying her brother! *LOL* That lasted 6 years, but my penpal and I still try to keep in contact. Although the relationship between her brother and I has somewhat tainted the wonderful friendship we used to have.. its funny to think about how we met.

While in the Navy, we used to swap letters with foreign militaries, and during the holiday's we'd get letters from kids in hospitals and what not, it was a totally awesome feeling to receive a letter from one of those kids.

I never had the experience of having one of my pen-pals pass on, but I've had friends that had, and it's hard. Even for grizzly sailors out to see for 6 months or more
