We have alot of members here who are online during the day,and more than likely able to do so because of internet at work... What do you like about your job?.. I am allowed to be on the internet 8 hours a day.. as long as the phone gets answered.. and any other jobs handed my way get done in a timely manner... I love my job..

I love the professionalism practiced here at work. The work environment is so much more relaxed that the other places that I have worked. The staff works together and not against each other. PLUS, I get internet 8 hours a day to post on here :rofl2:

The best thing bout my job is that I get to sit on my butt all day!LOL JK. It drives me nuts sitting here all day. We CRACK jokes more than Bobby and Whitney can say "I need another hit!" :rofl2: Everyone here has an awesome sense of humor and everything's all laid back and relaxing. Of course we still get the work done :D

I like that I am not micromanaged. I have no one looking over my shoulder. I can come and go as I please (within reason).

I am considered a professional among my peers (think about that one) and am looked upon for information in my area of expertise. My job allows me to build an international networking base among other Natives and interest/support groups that is outstanding.

Best of all, I get to "reInterpret" how American Indians are viewed.

the pay is good --- but i like that I get paid to play on the computer all day too. i like my coworkers, a lot of them are my age and some of them have been here since i started.

The work environment is pretty relaxed but everyone gets their work done, we get jeans fridays and i get my own office and phone number.

but on the other hand... i'm not happy doing what i do so i'm going back to school full time in January 05. wish me luck guys! :)

I forgot to mention that everyday here is casual Friday as far as the dress code goes.

Here too. You can wear whatevea you want, we have 10 sick days, 2 personal, every year you get 10 days vacation, full medical they pay for, educational leave, breavement paid up to your 1st cuz, and partners sibilings, unpaid leave, every day on here we get paid for. SO we are spoiled!!

Ok this may sound sappy but....Working with the developmentally disabled find work that they like and want to do is a really rewarding part of my job, to say it in less words...I like my job because I get to help people.

Deffinately isn't for the paycheck...human services work is a labor of love.

:Thinking..... well i don't like my job *L* it has its ups and downs..i could go on and on *L* besides the pay as being ALRIGHT... lol

but i like the fact that i can get on the net at work :D ... the tuition waiver!! BIG PLUS THERE ...ummm my benefits (health/401K/etc)...don't have to deal with the mean IHS people cuz of it *L* .....THE FLEXIBILITY :Thumbs that my managers give me..in regards to working at home/bringing my kids to work with me and understanding when my kids are sick and I have to go and get them :) I think that all makes up for being somewhat STILL underpaid.. LOL But those are the perks to my job...

buuuutt now we were just told that our whole school may move to another location in downtown phx at the other university location :Mad in their "NEW DESIGN PLAN" ...this should take place in the next 2 years they say!!

I could say alot of bad things about my job, but overall it's alright. Most people think we just sit around all day and do nothing, but after we do our tasks, we just have alot of leftover time to do whatever. I could bring my beadwork and bead, or I could read a book or magazine, or even get on the internet which I mainly do anyway (no chat) until we get customers.

When working with other natives on your rez, you find that there's so much aggression because you know each other and everyone. There's quiet a few backstabbing, malicious gossip, and so on. It's hard to tell you if you have a good or bad day. Lately, I've just been sucking it up. I've tried to get along with everyone for the sake of staying on the job because it's something I need desperately until I can finish school. It's hard.

One plus is that my boss is easy to get along with. She's pretty cool. She's a multi-tasker though. She's never in the same place for a long time.
