  • Locks For Love

    :)
    Hi y'all
i just finished reading a thread about someone debating if they should cut their hair or not ... which can be quite the decision, especially when your hair is past their
"tailfeathers" as they said. Personally, i understand this decision making - as my hair is also past my tailfeathers and sometimes i just wish to chop it all off, especially when i get i caught in doors once to many in a row ... lol doesn't happen at those moments, but later it does. anyhoo ... for folks that may not know there is a something called, "Locks For Love" - out there. So, for ANY one whom decides to cut alot of their mane off, all Locks for Love needs at least 10inches OR more of your mane to put towards making wigs for those with cancer whom have these wigs made for them. I just thought i'd put it out there to y'all and it's something to think about. I have decided that when the day comes that i finally cut my hair, it will be going to Locks For Love ... a great use ... to help others.

    Cool. Good information, inuk.

My hair gets to my waist, then seems not to want to grow any further.

Yeah I've heard of this! My friend up in Michigan donated her hair. It was waaaaaay past her tail bone and she cropped it. Awesome cause. I've had aunts with cancer and a wig really boosts self esteem for some.
        SHAKE IT!!!!

Yes, I almost felt naked. It's just getting long enough to be able to braid and wear otter skins.

I'll rob from a few horses for the cause :lol2:

Seriously though if I ever cut my hair I'll give it to LFL or a similar organization.

If you want a free makeover and a chance on television.. Maury Povich does alot of shows where folks get their hair cut off for lock for love and has a really excellent hairdresser give them a makeover while their at it. I had thought about it too.. but I dye my hair. Otherwise I could lose ten inches and grow it back less than a year later.

Sweeeeeet, 20 inches KLAMATH! My co-worker's daughter gave and she was saying they make about two wigs per donation, she is a red-head, very pretty hair BTW. Thought this was interesting to know, but apparently, they cut the hair to suitable lengths for styling and the like.........so, even if you gave your hair in one long length, it won't actually be woven into that length....

I'm trying to find out what products to use to grow my fiances hair. At one point he had very very long hair but it started thinning a few years ago due to medication side effects and he was ashamed so he cut it and donated it to Locks of love. Now we're trying to grow it out...

Just curious, does anyone feel that Natives or anyone male should be allowed to have long hair in the military. In the beginning of the American military, it didn't matter about hair or beards. Length of hair doesn't make anyone a better warrior, but beards can be a problem if someone were to put...
