The last one for tonight.
This bring me back old memories. It's almost 35 years ago since I learned to count i Hexadecimal.

Back in the day when punch cards, card sorters, card readers, tape drives, and mountable disks were the way to compile and execute a program. COBOL was the first language I learned. Then assembly language, RPG II, Fortran IV and Basic.
Hi Ta'neeszahnii Techno, I can see you know this stuff too!!!
This WAS FUN!!! In fact, Cobol was also my first language! What a monster. You got 1000s of lines for the smallest program.
And the punch-cards, yes, I know them very well too. I started to work as a computer-operator, and I was typing the code unto these famous cards, for next putting them in the card-reader.
Yes, times has changed. I would have a hard time to go back to the cards! lol lol lol

It was different back then, but it's good to have that as part of your background. I started out as a student computer operator too working with an IBM 360 Model 30 which had a teletype interface. I worked on my assignments at the same time while running other students programs. That job lead me to IBM Corporation, Loral Defense Systems, McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems, The Boeing Company and finally Honeywell International.
Nice carrier!!! I wish I were in your place. I never took off my self. Still making simple program in VBA and stuff like that.

In the past, I wrote playback scripts with Rational Robot which is pretty much Visual Basic. These scripts are still being used for automated regression testing of embedded application software. The current things are .NET frameworks and Visual Studio C#.
I would have LOVED to work with Rational Robot!!!!
You are LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!
I touched a little bit Visual Studio C#, but never got to use it. And now, I'm getting to old to try new stuff! lol lol lol
Have a hard time to follow today's progress. If you buy a phone today, it does everything excepting a simple phone-call. lol lol lol. Things gets too complicated in today's society.
Well, we should rename this thread to "The computers in the old days"!!!!

Yeah, after awhile, you become something of a legacy because of the rich heritage from the past. Then you become somewhat of a liability because of what only you know. But, it's all good because you can actually say you worked with 5081 punch cards.
I would have been rich today if I had kept these old cards and tapes. I could sell them all on Ebay. lol lol
It’s too bad I did not thing about that 30 years ago!!!!!!!!!!
Many be I should keep some of my CDs and DVDs. My children could sell it on Ebay in 50 years from now. lol lol lol
And not to forget this key USB with just 8 Go. They would be laughing of it, and think we was very primitive.
May be I should consider myself for being rich because of this heritage. It’s hard to understand the development of the computer for one who did not have this experience. Seeing the “baby” growing up is a BIG privilege.

I tried that: storing away things that were from that time frame, but my dad used the reels of IBM 2420 Magnetic Tapes that I had to string across the watermelon patchs in an attempt to scare away the crows. I guess sunlight shimmering of the half-inch tape was a deterent until the crows found out that they can land on the ground and simply walk in under the strands of tape!

place her ball, a gust of wind blows her skirt up and reveals her lack
of underwear. "Good God, woman! Why aren't you wearing any knickers?"
her husband demanded....
