Maybe it would help people if they saw what the mathematics were in example form:
0x17 == (1*16)+7= 23
I actually wrote thousands of lines of code in macro assembly language for firmware that is burned into EEPROM on computer hardware that handle data handling and control for the Shuttle and the International Space Station. A lot of the low-level code is in handling registers and other controller devices which could only be multiplexed in machine code. Lately have been getting into C# and .NET Visual Studio to do simulation-type applications.
