one of mine for best arcade would have to be

    IKARI WARRIORS II: Victory Road

That game was super dope! It was kinda like top scroller Contra. Just you couldn't jump and it was way way cooler. It wasn't a coin eater either, unless you totally sucked, in which case; isn't any game a coin eater then?

But this game had it all, flame throwers, super frag grenades, armor and a big ole sword that shot bullets and larger than life baddies and good old-fashioned playability, that kept us coming back for more and more. I probably plugged in at least 40 Bucks to that one alone. And well 40 Smacks back in the early to mid 80's was no small sum to a youngin like me!

So yeah make mine Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road

I've always really dug Ultima Exodus. It was one of the first true RPG's of the NES era. You could get 4 separate party members and go beat down the bad dudes with sword and spell. Very large map and equally large dungeons. Great graphics for its time and the playability was downright super.

My brother and I almost beat it, as in we had all the best loot and whatnot for our dudes and we left his house on 4th of July to go to mine. Some other family friends were at his house with their kids (all of which were younger than us). Well our game got saved over. What we should have done is just take the game. So we never got to beat it. But i'm sure it would have been quite anti-climactic, like so many games are even today.

But Ultima was so ahead of its time, as in 1987. It was actually the part II or III of the PC game of the same name.

      U.N. Squadron

U.N. Squadron was a classic arcade side-scroller. It had three joysticks. And you guessed her, 3 types of aircraft all from America, Japan and Russia I think. Each had their strengths and weaknesses. I beat it with a friend on like 5$. Good times. Just great graphics and playability.

Sim City for Super Nintendo. Such a great game! No two cities alike. Their formula was great, nothing too complex and nothing too basic and lame.

Played it for whole weekends with barely any sleep. Gotta love High-School for that kind of devotion

          Blaster Master

Just fun. The plot is kind of like 'The Last Starfighter'. Where you're voluntold/enlisted in this elite corp of fighters. And you are bestowed this big snazzy transformable Car/Tank/Submarine/Hover-Craft vehicle. It has a wide array of weaponry and gadgets. Plus you get to exit the vehicle because certain parts are only accessible to your pilot. Really great graphics for a Nintendo game, as well as great play-control which in my mind is far more paramount than great graphics. Play control is what makes games fun to play overall. Because if you can't control your dude then all else is futile.

But this game had every environment. I think it's quite underrated. Great bosses and fun enemies. Blaster Master was not too challenging so the frustration factor wasn't that high. Great game overall.

KADASH for the Turbo Graphix16. It was an arcade classic as well, one of the best adventure side scrollers ever. My favorite was the Mage on that game. He could get this little like familiar imp dude that would sit on his shoulder right. And when the mage swung his staff weapon, the little dude would jump off his shoulder and run at the bad guy and whip out his little dagger and stab the guy then run back in the same round and jump back on your Mage's shoulder. So killer that game. Great graphics for its time too.

Overall great game. Plugged like ten to fifteen into that one there.

MAME-Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator-This allows you to lay actual 1970's-1980's-up arcade games on computer. All you need for each game are the ROM files.
Another is Daphne. It's a laserdisc (not DVD,CD or Blu Ray) arcade emulator that also allows laserdisc arcade games such as Dragon's Lair,Space Ace, (Cinematronics/Atari)Cliff Hanger (Stern),MACH 3 (Mylstar/Gottlieb),etc. to be played on computer.
