Years ago I started a tradition in the family, while I had next to zero income I bought a stack of clay flower pots and went into the bush and dug up and potted a whole pile of small pines, spruce and balsam trees and then took aluminum foil and wrapped the pots and spread a few ribbons. I attached a card saying please water me until spring, then take me outside and plant me on your lawn where you can see me.
In 1980 when I started this I passed out many trees and now I see trees that are over 30 feet tall and decorated with lights! So good to see live trees that friends have kept and show back year after year that their tree is still out there and yes above all ALIVE and well. I needed to share this at this time when I saw the thread... so keep this in mind for Live trees!! Merry Christmas to one and all!!! It was a great year,
Listen to my heart, not just my mouth! The most powerfull thing we can do is,,,share,,, if we don't it dies with us.

It is the year of the bear, I am sharpening my claws and will no longer tollerate harrassment.

thank you TIBIKI KINEW!....it does feel great to see those trees growing...! my grandfather always did that....( not legally with the itty-bitty “giants” & lodge poles of a couple of state parks in california )...so if anyone ever finds a stray here and there in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA....you know how it got there.

Living on the prairies, we don't have an abundance of conifers here... mostly larches and aspens. So Xmas trees are brought in and they were all gone by Dec 1. My friend had to go into the big city to get her tree yesterday.

AF, the lodge pole pines are closer to the mountains here... they are so pretty.

Sorry, didn't get any of those this year, by the time we finished that big exercise we had in August/Sept/Oct all the leaves were on the ground. BTW, that pic was taken on the road to Pyramid Lake in Jasper. Lots of elk and deer hang out there.
