    What is to be done with the Wahnahbees

    What is to be done with the mixed bloods that are awakening to their Native Elders.

    A. Mock them and discourage them .

    B. Develope a program, designed and administered by Mostly and Total bloods, that will first screen out the ones who are just lost from those coming home, and secondly raises these people up in the Red Way.

    C. Recomend a few books, and give them directions to some one elses Powwow.

    D. Sign em up for the Little Big Horn Reanactment, the one with blank bullets and live arrows.

              hmmmm... i am confused ..... if they are mixed blood .... how can they be wannabe's???? now if they are white .... then yeah send em back on da boat .... lol.

                I agree with you.I'm a mixed blood,not no wannabe but I tell you what,I ain't white.If you have no indian blood then don't go there.

                  agree with the last post. Wannabes are all white...I don't think most people would say a mixed blood is a wannabe...we mean Whites who wannabe Indians. As you know; other threads discuss when AN Indian IS Indian. Genetics as opposed to culture.
                  Maybe we need a new word? Genetic Indians who did not grow up in the culture?? any ideas?

                    hmmmm.... now, still if you are talking about mixed blood indians ... who did not grow up in " the culture" ... then u should should show them the way ..." the red way" and welcome them so that they offspring can carry on the traditions of their nation or nations... not shun em.

                      part of my job is counseling native students. Mostly urban kids, some FULLBLOODS. This year I have 4 kids who have never met their grandparents, or been home to the Rez. They only know, hip hop, and sagging and tons of crap culture, nothing Indian. I had a recent incident, with a fullblood parent,( her son was half white,and half navajo) she did not want me even talking about native ways, she wanted her kids as far away from it as she could get. These are indian kids not in "the culture." These are "don'twannabees" It is good to see so many folks on this board who care.

                          ??? this is very distressing to me ... "mixed bloods" would be the same as " mostly" ... what are u really trying to say .... please explain .... this is sooo stupid ... thats all i can say ... u should rephrase this or .... rethink what u are trying to say .. cuz u got me all confused. white ppl that are strictly white that are trying to be indian are wannabes.

                              Part of the reason for this poll is to get a better definition of wahnahbees.
                              It is a pretyy sarcastic name to call someone, and I get a little twing of anger when I hear it used.
                              I dont think it serves my spirit well to demean others .
                              I have blue eyes.
