  • New Here from Michigan

I am Cherokee Eastern Band from one grandfather and Cheyenne from another grandfather and I am also Blk. I have found a lot of interesting things on the site and plan to visit here often. I started looking into my Native American Heritage because my son wanted to learn more and my grandfathers died when I was really young so there was nothing I could tell him and most books write us as savages an some other's tell half truths. So I took him to Cherokee, North Carolina for about a week and a half and we got a chance to speak to a lot of the Natives there Buddy Gass (desendent of Seqouia), he was really nice and talked to us for a really long time, and he let my kid dress up in some of the things he had at his store and also take a picture that really made Corteco's( my kid) day, we meet Whagoo-le he was really nice to, every native we spoke with was really nice to us. I did see that some of the lighter natives treated the darker ones like they were beneath them and that really made me angry, we also came across some rasict and ignorant tourist like one tourist said(where's the teepee's this can't be no real resevation), I wish there was something that I could do for the Natives there cause a lot of them are going to bed hungry, cause of politics and the Casino there is just screwing them over more from what I heard more politics.
Sorry for the long post just needed to rant a little.
