  • Howdy...yeah I'm new too.

    Hey all.

New to the forum...Have used the site a couple times just to find some powwows. I am 30 yr old, married fem, Comanche, and just relocated to the Houston area about 7 months ago. Anyone near me feel free to msg me to say hi. I am really interested in any dances that are close to the Houston area. So if you all have been to any in the past...let me know.

    Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to Powwows.com and to Texas!

I live about an hour's drive from where you are located. I know quite a bit of pow-wows in the Houston area. There's one coming up very soon. If you visit this site, Traders Village, click on the Houston location and you'll see the upcoming attractions there. The pow-wow should be listed on there, and it's next month.

There's also one coming up near you in Cypress at the Houston Methodist Pow-wow on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at the Quillian Sports Complex-Westchase. It's at 3660 Westcenter Drive (near Beltway 8 and Westpark). It should be a good one. Maybe I'll meet you out there. Oh, I just found out they have a website, too. Houston Methodist Powwow

The Alabama-Coushatta Reservation is about an hour's drive from Cypress. If you've never driven through here in Livingston, it'll probably take a bit longer, but shouldn't be no more than an hour and a half. We have benefit pow-wows every first Saturday of every month beginning in December. You should come check it out. We're also having one tomorrow night in conjunction with our Cultural Week. It starts at 7:00 p.m. and usually ends by 11:00 p.m.

So, hope this all helps. Again, welcome!

That's excellent. I added those two to my list already and can't wait to go. I'll have to check out one of the dances over there in Livingston too. That's awesome.
