    Hello Everyone!

I am a newbie here. While I do not know if there is any Native American in my ancestry, I am still interested in finding out some things. The path my life has taken, leads me to think that I would benefit from Native Americans and their wisdom of the connection a person can have with the earth and its creatures.

I had a friend that thought that going to a Pow Wow would be a very good idea for me(because of many things in my life), but I have moved to a differnt area since, but would still like (if possible) to go to a Pow Wow. (I am hopeful that when I do get the opportunity to attend a Pow Wow, that I will be able to find someone willing to talk to me about my path in life)

    Thanks for reading this:)
Thank You. I hope you have a good day.

My father's side of the family claims to have come from europe (but I dont have any specific details )

My mother's side, on the other hand, has a bunch of a mixture:

What I have been told, is that I am part irish, german, pennsylvania dutch, and possibly scottish (one last name's spelling can be taken as scottish or german)

I dont know how I could get a reliable ancestral history, since there are very little left of my mother's relatives, and as far as I know, none of them did any research into their history :(

      -----------

This past weekend, I had a conversation with someone who claimed to be Native American, and he claimed that there might be a possibility that I might be a small portion Native American (based on the fact that I am part irish and possibly scottish, since he claimed that both of those nationalities would marry Native Americans.
However, when I tried to find out more about this person on the net, I found out he might not be who he says he is. Needless to say, I didn't know what to think, especially after I had asked him for advice.
Thank You. I hope you have a good day.

I am going to try and see if I can out more about my mother's side of the family. There are very little (if any) older living relatives that would have any information to help me find out, but I am still going to give it a shot.

On that note, I found something interesting out about my grandmother's last name. Assuming it is correct, here is what the last name is defined as:

        The meaning of Derwin
        Origin: English
Meaning: Friend of the deer 'Gifted friend.'.

        Origin: Teutonic
        Meaning: Friend of the wild

( Im hoping that I can find out more, but it looks like it may be a very long process. But, I'll keep with it and see what comes up)

        :)
Thank You. I hope you have a good day.
