Trying to figure things out in the forum it's quite interesting but I like it. I am Ojibwa 57, and a grandma. I have 3 children, and 4 grandchildren 2 girls and 2 boys. I am not on my rez right now due to the passing of my father here in WI. Being away from family and friends is so very lonely it is driving me nuts. I keep myself busy dealing with the polictical issues at home on the rez. I know there others out there that are going through similar issues. I do alot of my crafts in the winter as well as my genealogy stuff. I have a strong will to preserve our traditions. My grandmother is French,Ojibwa,Cree,Assiniboine,Dakota, and Scottish. My Grandfather is about the same mixture except he has English. I am in the rolls. My bigest regret is not marring within my tribal affiliation or native decent. I had the chance so said the man who was native but I was young like 15 or 16. I wasnt ready and then with no birth control method in place I started a family. He was native but very little and not enrolled. I believe we should start looking at these issues but it's hard for our young people to want to do this the girls have their reasons and our native men are just as frustrated over issues like this. I think this should be a discussion young people should have not a old mindemoyin like me.

Welcome to Powwow.Com. I do hope you have fun reading and posting all the threads here. My husband is full blooded Ojibwe. I am part Cree and Part Cherokee. I am a grandmother, too, of three wonderful and beautiful granddaughters. No grandson, yet. I am glad that you are here and introduce yourself and your family. I just love to Powwow every chance I go with my husband whether on the island or the mainland. It is good that you have the craft experience to make during the winter and then sell them during the warm days like Spring, Summer and Fall. I do hope you can pass along your ideas on the craft like beading, native clothing and anything that you can share with them about how to make them. I am not craft maker, but I do love to go on the powwow ground to dance socially doing the two steps. Take care, and see you around. I am waving to you.

              Identity Confusion
              by samenulali
              Hello,

I apologize for making one of these types of threads, but I would really appreciate advice in this anonymous setting.

Lately I am feeling like I should give up everything regarding my native identity. I have done these things since I was seven, learning languages,...

              Spirit Guides
              by thompsarah08
A Cheyenne Chief is one of my spirit guides. My understanding is that some nations do not feel that whites will have Native guides. I am white and as far as I know have no lineage to the native people of america. I do know that I have always felt like I had some connection, maybe a past life? When ...

I have been a member here for quite a while (joined a year or two ago but never posted/rarely visited) and just started posting a few weeks ago - I've been enjoying myself so far, I sort of skipped a formal introduction though so I thought I would do so.

Father refused to acknowledge tribe, can I still join?
              by Niigig
Hi all. I am new. I will spare you the entire sob story, but I have to give a little of it in order for it to make sense, but the bottom line is that everyone on my dad's side of the family was extremely racist, white supremacist almost, back to one who was resentful of his father who was full-blooded...
