  • Just a hello

Hello. My Name is Christy. I'm 35 and live in Hattiesburg,Ms. I was finally fortunate enough to attend my 1st Pow Wow last weekend, here in Hattiesburg. It was truly the best weekend Ive had in a long time.
Oral history says I do have Cherokee lineage but as of yet that has not been proven so I do not call myself Native, I call myself a Native Fan. I do know my maiden name, Langley, is on Cherokee rolls but Ive not pinpointed any as being my Langleys.
My husbands oral history also says he is of Comanche lineage but again, that too is unproven as of yet. Hopefully my genealogy work will show either way for the both of us.

Anyway I signed up here hoping to keep track of any upcoming pow wows that will be happening with in driving distance to me.
    Nice to meet everyone.

Hello, remember that for your happiness, you need your immediate family. Start there and you will soon see the light.

No truer words were ever spoken.
If I never find any native ties I will still be just as happy. I enjoy my family no matter the bloodlines.

I will still always enjoy the beat of the drums and the flying dancers as well.

Maybe you can make it to that.

I did not just like the powwow in Hattiesburg, I LOVED it! We went Friday evening when my husband got off work, then I spent all of Saturday there. Only leaving to go get my husband for lunch. I missed only about an hour and a half that day.

It was the most moving event Ive been to,I had not had such a joyful time in a long time. I did not just hear the drums, I felt them in a spiritual way.
