you know some of the more say, kinder of heart or conservative members of this network may not have the stones to say what I did, but I said them.


It is not a threat; yes some of the even more old-skool members on here may totally disagree, or say some the newer members may completely disdain or dispute what I have said as completely egotistical and not "what this website's mission or reality is". But sometimes it takes a b#*[email protected] like me to say it.

It's Only the Internet

Ah yes, never forget this little gem! You see, the internet isn't "real life" and therefore nothing that happens on the internet could ever have an actual impact on real people.

OH no, anything that happens on the internet is, by virtue of simply happening on the internet:

"A Joke!"

Never mind that real people are really behind the really real words they're typing "on the Internet" and that those words actually do reflect real world opinions, beliefs, prejudices and discrimination that really do affect really real people from Marginalized Groups™ and they already have to deal with that stuff on a daily basis - so what! It's "the Internet". Nothing is "real" on "the Internet". You can simply say to them: If you take anything on "the Internet" to heart, you're taking it "too seriously" and probably just need to log off for awhile...

... and go out into the "real world" where they will... experience the exact same type of discrimination and prejudice.

You see, this tactic conveniently ignores that there is no genuine respite for Marginalized People™ when it comes to encountering bigotry characteristic to their group, not even through a supposed entertainment medium, like "the Internet".

Since nothing on "the Internet" happens face to face, you as a Privileged Person® can easily persuade yourself nothing that happens on "the Internet" really matters. You can then communicate your contempt for the Marginalized Person™'s experience by dismissing and trivializing any hurtful or outright hateful things either you or other Privileged People® have said, simply because it was on "the Internet" and since they can't see you and you can't see them, how can they even prove the words even mean anything, lol!

Using this tactic, you're also subtly characterizing 'the Internet" as an autonomous being - it's not people being offensive, it's "the Internet", thus allowing you to further shirk responsibility.

Please Read. Then Judge Me...

I"ll not post anymore foolish, sarcastic, offensive things on this thread. It was not my intent to offend anyone truly at all.

I did really want to share the link leading to this insanely off color site about some really heavy duty issues and the ways people use "logical fallacies" to completely de-rail people in serious real life situations and debates.

But I feel sometimes people need to be spun up negatively in order to be truly receptive to ugliness. And let me tell you I read the entire page last night and it blew me away.

I started off being quite offended when I first started reading but pushed ever forward. And upon getting through it even further I realized I was being "FORCED" to learn the hard way. I wound up being confronted by my own inner and outer demons. It made me feel quite guilty and I had to do some serious self-analysis and quiet my mind for some time. I laughed out loud at the sheer audacity of the authors words. They truly twisted me up inside.

These are heavy heavy duty issues that we all deal with on a daily basis, whether we realize it or not. I sincerely apologize for my methodology; though I wanted people to see just how ugly things can get out there. Because perhaps there are those of our number who aren't confronted with much of the things found on this web page. Or perhaps they aren't aware that they happen at all in conversation.

But I guarantee it happens to them, albeit maybe in the most subtle ways. Perhaps in a restaurant, store, bar, club; they overhear someone talking negatively about them a few feet away. I know I have heard it more times than I can count in my 33 years. And one may discount it and shrug it off as perhaps they themselves are the ones being "too oversensitive".

But the truth of the matter is that they are on the receiving end of discrimination and blatant racism. Only just in the most cowardly manner. Because who are you to become offended by what the non-person-of-color is saying to their friend/s??? "And why don't you mind your own dang business? I wasn't even talking to you."

Being told things like what I have said by people in the real world really do hurt us in many ways. Most of which aren't even evident. We bottle them up inside of us and let them eat away at our spirits. But we do find strength on this site especially. This site is such a positive safe environment, where all are welcome to share freely any info they choose.

It is a place we can go to network and find out just what is truly going on in Indian Country/Beyond. This site is free of bigotry, racism and all other manner of negativity that haunts all of humanity.

Powwows.com is a haven to come and relax and especially laugh and share stories and experiences with one another. It is a place where freedom is held in the highest regard. People have the chance to connect with one another on here like no other place save a Pow-Wow.

To me, this is my FACEBOOK. The people are far more real here and far more respectful. There is no foul language, nasty notty pictures, or any other negativity that floods other networking sites in all of cyberspace.

Pow-Wows.com is very unique. We welcome everyone and we love every one. Respect is held in very high regard here on the threads. Remember you never know who is an elder in this place. Many elders of many stripes abound here. It is up to all of us to make everyone on here feel safe. Furthermore our goal is for Powwows.com to be a place to make new friends and connect with old ones.

Many of us have been on the threads for years, and remember when this site had few members. And they have watched this site blossom into the beautiful place it is today. We care deeply about this site and the people on here, because we are a family. And there is no love greater than that of those who consider you or whom you consider your family.

We support one another and make one another laugh out loud so very much. This place is such a shining beacon in cyberspace and in reality. There is much entertainment on the arcade as well. If you just want to kick back and blow off some steam and nerd out on games you can! There is a thread for everyone on Powwows.com; and if you can't find one that you like, you are free to start on of your very own. Again that word,"free".

Or if you are feeling down and say have lost a loved one, come here please and we will metaphorically "hold you" and be there for you. We support one another always on this site.

If you wish to know something about a certain dance style or anything pertaining to Native culture you may ask it. Alone we are weak, but together we are invincible. So please be kind here, be loving, be gentle. The rewards of this network are limitless and only limited by how hard you try.
